Accessify

Accessify is for any merchant who wants to ensure that their Shopify store is accessible to persons with disabilities (PWD), or those that require assistive devices to use the Internet. However, since accessibility overlaps heavily with search engine optimization (SEO), Accessify can benefit all Shopify store owners.

Accessify works by integrating with the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE), an awesome service made available by the kind people at WebAIM, which evaluates web pages for accessibility issues. When you install Accessify to your Shopify store, it automates the process of checking your pages for accessibility issues by scanning your store each week, running any new or updated pages through the WAVE service, and reporting any errors or alerts that are found.

Of course, this is not perfect, and does not mean that your Shopify store is “accessible” or meets Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act or WCAG guidelines. In fact, no automated tool can check all the issues in these guidelines, but Accessify saves you time by notifying you when accessibility issues arise.

Accessify will always report accessibility errors, and you can configure your reports to include HTML alerts, script alerts and media alerts. Each report has links to learn more about each error and alert, including recommended actions that you can take.
