Impossible to set up this app as a simple app. It's more like a quiz game and the developer charges you extra money to help you set up the rules. Potato quality interface and horrible usability. I wasted one month on this dumb interface.

This is a great inexpensive app that allows you to easily customize your shipping options. It was a snap to install and has been working perfectly for us since we've had our store live.

I don't usually rave about an app.... But LOOK NO FURTHER! If you have anything from simple to complicated shipping (like we do) this app (and their team) is a lifesaver. (and expense saver!) We spent thousands for years on a 'custom shipping' software for our stores. It worked "ok" but always some issue here and there, plus the team was hard to get response from. When they wanted to raise rates AND issue a 'new improved' version there was nothing but problems and lost revenue. Found ASM and we're not looking back! It takes a second to figure out the settings but the team is great and will actually talk to you on the phone (old school user appreciates this). Thank you, ASM!

This is a great shipping app that gives us extreme control over various shipping options, allows us to exclude certain shipping methods for individual products and allows us to require different products to ship by themselves. The support has proven to be extremely helpful time and again! Dan is super patient in explaining how everything worked and in assisting with duplicating shipping methods on his end to make things easier for us. He is also very helpful in devising ideas and methods for tricky shipping setups.

This is an incredibly robust shipping app that I’ve been using for over a year for our flagship store, and one I’ll be thrilled to install, and will have already mastered, on our next two niche shops, and at half price which is part of their pricing incentive.

Coming from another e-commerce platform, having a separate shipping solution/software/app was foreign to me, but now I’m thankful for it, as I have more control over bulk assigning shipping values and formulas at once. Our store has over 50K products so you can see the value of assigning bulk shipping options per manufacturer, price range, product type, etc. Also foreign to me was working in a CSV file for shipping much like any data sheet that you’d receive from a manufacturer or one you generate in Shopify after creating products. This speaks to the speed of bulk editing I referred to, as I now have the power of Excel or Google Sheets to expedite my changes.

What makes this app robust? – extensive control and powerful (yet extra costing) add-ons. But even with our 50K inventory, we haven’t yet needed to explore any add-ons. I can not only assign Free or Flat Rate Shipping, but I can also create general rules in the app, (outside the CSV) that for instance allows me to provide Free Shipping for any order over $99. With an ASM generated formula (documentation on site on how to create, and example below), I can also define tiers of Flat Rate Shipping to accommodate multiples of a product(s). For example I have a shipping formula for thousands of small products: 1=10.95~3~17.50~5~21* This basically says Shipping for 1 is 10.95, 3 for 17.50, 5 for 21. The reason I don’t accommodate additional quantities is because for that particular item, more than 5 would cost over $99 and then my General Free Shipping rule kicks in. Cool!

Other robust features/options/headers in the CSV include assigning Dimensions, a Ship Alone value, Origin Zip Code (incredibly useful when dropshipping from manufacturers from all over the place), Number of Boxes, Invalid Shipping Methods, Markup, Multi-Box Dimensions, Global Free Shipping, Exclude States and Exclude Countries – the last two of which are incredibly valuable as we have no interest in shipping to AK or HI, Canada or Mexico and also some manufacturers have restrictions to California which gives us the power to declare these restrictions quickly.

Customer Service: Due to the size of our store, we ran into a issue over the summer that required us to desperately ping the ASM support team for their help with a solution to our unique issue. Our request, was by my standards, was quite bold but the ASM staff was incredibly responsive to our support needs and was able to make temporary accommodations along the way so that we could still operate without any downtime. As I said, our request was bold and it took them several weeks, but it was worth the wait as I can confidently say that all future ASM users will be able to benefit from this major upgrade and how it ‘talks’ to other aspects of the Shopify platform. And during that time, the ASM staff was constantly available and polite despite our request.

Since our store is so large and we are able to get a shipping app discount for our next two stores, the price is totally worth it, but don’t let a smaller inventory prevent you from avoiding this solution. Smaller stores will reap the benefits of a streamlined checkout experience and they’ll find that the app will pay for itself in time – In fact, I actually wish we had a smaller inventory because then I would have more time, to be able to really use more of the features that I’m already paying for and make the checkout experience that much more amazing for our customers.

One recommendation for anyone about to use this app, (and this may be cleared up in future versions as the Support Team has been very receptive to our feature suggestion), but please consider taking the time to create an identification system for your SKUs, especially if your are dropshipping and work with multiple manufacturers. In the CSV that you will edit, the only identifier (as of this writing) for each product is the SKU and if you do not prepend some additional identifier for each product, it will be very difficult to identify products and hence assign the correct shipping rate. For instance. We had a product with a SKU of 1001, which told me nothing in the CSV. Once I created my naming convention, that SKU now reads ABRSS-1001 which I can now identify as an Allied Brass product and not only assign it a Free Shipping value but also search or filter for all other products with that naming convention in Excel or Sheets and bulk assign all other products.

To the ASM team – thanks so incredibly much for this amazing app and especially for all our your help (and patience) referenced above. As an additional future feature suggestion, perhaps an in-app spreadsheet editing feature allowing users to bypass downloading/uploading CSVs (and bypass Microsoft and Google products). And perhaps including an extra couple of identifiers for products, especially Product Type or Cost or Manufacturer as many vendors may want to set shipping by those criteria. See you on the backend!

This app is super versatile and does everything we need it to. I was not the original set up man for our site so I came in a little blind to how it worked. I had a few questions and needed help, Lance was able to walk me through what i needed to change and update and provided screen shots as well to help out. He made it fast and easy to make the fixes and all is good now. Thank you!

If they don't have what you need they will customize your app to fit your needs. This app has been essential for us. Prior to using this app, we were unable to offer free shipping on Shopify because Shopify does not allow us to exclude specific collections for free shipping. However, one downside to using this app to offer free shipping (not ASM's fault) is that it cannot recognize discounts that customers use for their purchases. This means that if they use a $20 off coupon for a $50 purchase, ASM does not recognize that a $20 coupon was used, which would reduce the total to under the $50 free shipping threshold.

Lance from Advanced Shipping Manager walked me through setting up ASM for my website every single step of the way. From an initial on-boarding call to 10-15 minute delay in e-mail responses he has really made me feel like support is actually supposed to feel like! I run a shopify site with a lot of complex shipping requirements; LTL from multiple different locations to the customer and he was ready with a solution for every question. I highly recommend this App and if you get a chance to work with Lance count your lucky stars!

Consider this an open warning to anyone thinking about using this app. A simple documentation error by ASM cost us about $1,000 in revenue during our first 45 days using their app.

Despite the fact that they "guarantee the ROI of their app," they never responded or acknowledged our multiple requests for them to consider waiving their fees.

The ASM team earned this review by ignoring support requests and costing us a significant amount of money.

Top notch support team! We sell a huge variety of items ranging from small 2 oz items to oversized 40 lb boxes, with a bunch of shipping rules to go with it. Our biggest headache was the pesky dimensional weight billing and our old website was custom written to handle it all. So when it came time for us to move to Shopify, we were really concerned if there was an app available. In comes ASM, it included everything we needed and more! Dan and Burt were also quick to reply my emails when I had questions, or troubleshoot my settings when it was having issues. It works better than our old website, as we can quote rates that are closer to the actual rate, and not overcharge or undercharge the customer.

We have a unique shipping setup on our store due to overseas manufacturers and dropship suppliers. Basically, if you have very specific needs when it comes to shipping rates based on origin or destination, this is the app for you to use. The app interfaces nicely with Shopify and connects to the shipping functionality natively, allowing you to work on the custom shipping setup on a custom back-end built by ASM. The developer I work with - Burt- is one of the coolest dev's I've ever had the chance to work with and he not only helped us get everything setup, but also helped me learn how to do some things on my own as well. He's always available via email or phone and will help resolve any issue in no time.

Let's be honest, Shopify is great but it isn't the most robust tool when it comes to custom, very-specific needs. Tools like ASM exist to add functionality that Shopify devs will NEVER add because there isn't enough of a demand usually. However some of us want to use Shopify for it's benefits, while still being able to do what we need to do - that's where apps like ASM come in, and they are truly invaluable for this reason.

This is an extremely useful app that is supported by truly great customer service. This system is quite intricate, enabling it to adapt to pretty much any scenario you may encounter. This app allowed us to provide much more accurate real-time courier rates than what we were able to obtain with the Shopify Plus courier rates, as well as implementing shipping markups based on item, order, and shipping destination. Would highly recommend to any Shopify merchant who needs real-time shipping rates and the ability to customize shipping options.

I really recommend everyone to try this app out. It really makes the impossible Possible. I ship from two different origins using so many different shipping scenarios (basic , real time calculation, flat rate table) as both free and expedited shipments.

these are really complex scenarios especially when a customer orders two different items from two different origins while one is shipped using real time calculation and the other is based on a flat rate table.

Burt from support department did a great job to get around with these scenarios and making all shipping options and methods possible in the ASM server.

First off, I will say that the customer support we've received from this app is unparalleled. We had been researching a more custom shipping app for a while now and Burt walked us through the pre-purchase consultation, post-purchase implementation, and fine-tuning of our shipping system.

Our company does not use or need the real-time rates feature, so I'm unable to review that part, but we were able to accomplish 98% of our ideal shipping calculation system using this app.

As a home retailer we have a very unique shipping model, in that we wanted our accessory items to calculate shipment by weight but our furniture items to calculate shipment by order value and destination region while not charging shipping for accessories if a furniture item was in the cart. It's a lot of "if", "and" and "but" conditionals that we were able to make happen thanks to this app.

Awesome Product! This does EXACTLY what we were looking for. I wish I discovered it a LONG time ago. Not only does the product handle the different issues we have with weight and shipping and box quantities, the SUPPORT IS SUPERIOR to anything else I've used in the past. This is a MUST HAVE app if you want to get your shipping dialed in. I am very pleased and its completely worth the monthly cost.

So we probably have one of the more complicated shipping problems. Thirty unique warehouses in Canada and the US. People buying items from the two countries. All we can say is that Burt needs a statue in his town in Florida. This man is amazing and beyond patient. I think most of the reviews talk about Burt but until you spend the time on the phone with like we did, you have no idea how amazing he is.

This is the shipping app that we have been in need of! We have an online shop with about 600 SKUs and quickly realized that shipping, and charging for shipping, can be very complex. This app allows us to configure shipping rates per piece, so that we can charge appropriately. Also, the customer service has been outstanding.

I have nothing but good things to say about this app. It is not cheap but I could not find any other way to get my shipping the way I needed it on my site. Without Advanced Shipping Manager I wouldn't even been able to use Shopify at all.

It did take a lot of work to get setup but I have over a 100 custom box sizes and Advanced Shipping Manager made it possible. I worked with Burt and I have nothing but good things to say about him as well.
