AG Product Reviews App & UGC

The app has a lot of options to customise and is really easy to use! I did have a bit of trouble figuring out some details on how to request reviews manually (more of a me issue than an app issue), but Hena from customer service was really helpful and walked me through it.

I'm reporting a technical bug in the structured data (JSON-LD) that AG Product Reviews injects into our product pages.

Store: varidesko.pl (Shopify store ID 097d14-5c)

Issue:
The app injects a block (inside a div.shopify-block.shopify-app-block) containing a Product type with aggregateRating. The description field in this JSON contains raw, unescaped line breaks (literal newlines inside the JSON string value), which produces invalid JSON. For example:

Because the newlines inside the string are not escaped as \n, this block fails to parse as valid JSON. This means:

The aggregateRating data (which should help our review stars appear in Google/AI search results) is likely being ignored by search engines and AI crawlers because the entire JSON-LD block fails validation.
This can be confirmed by pasting the raw script content into any JSON validator (e.g. https://validator.schema.org/) or by viewing page source and searching for application/ld+json.

Additional issues found in the same block:

The image field uses a relative URL (files/Fortis-Pro.jpg) instead of an absolute URL, which is non-compliant with the Schema.org / Google structured data requirements (absolute URLs are required).

Requested fix:

Properly escape all special characters (especially newlines, and HTML entities where relevant) when serializing the description field into the JSON-LD script, so the output is valid JSON.
Convert the image field to an absolute URL (e.g. https://varidesko.pl/files/Fortis-Pro.jpg).

Impact: This affects structured data validity across all product pages using this review block, not just the example above — it's likely a global template issue in how the app renders the JSON-LD, so a single fix should resolve it store-wide.

This is a powerful app that is helping us level up our review game, alhough set up is easy, I did need support to show me how to send an invitation to review on past orders (greater than 60 days too) Kipuka in the support team handled that for me and in the end it was super easy!
