Aircada ‑ Product Configurator

We sell custom kites and have been in this business for decades. Our kites have been used by Sir Richard Branson when he, his family and friend achieved 3 Guinness World Records. Naturally, our brand has a very high standard for both physical quality and how we portray that online. With so many customers wanting to upload their artwork to our kites we decided it was time to streamline this on the site. Our traffic is primarily mobile so we needed an interactive 3D customiser experience that would be intuitive to use with just a pair of thumbs.

We brought in Aircada to turn our vision into a production-ready 3D product configurator and these guys crushed it. The configurator’s UI/UX guides the customer from point a -> point b -> checkout yet feels unique in a way that emphasises our brand. Not an easy thing to do.

The killer feature is we let the customer upload artwork to the top and bottom fabric of the kite. The realism is what got us. When you drop a custom image onto the kite, it wraps around the fabric creases and raised areas like you're holding the physical product. Some of the custom product builders we’ve tinkered with in the past didn’t seem to nail this aspect but Aircada’s visual engine has handled it the best we’ve seen hence this review. Huge shoutout to the team for building a 3D product customiser that feels as sturdy as our kites.

We’re one of the leaders in our niche. We were using a bare-bones 2D customizer to let users upload a logo onto our product. It was ok… quite underwhelming. Fast forward to now and we’ve swapped the 2D customizer for Aircada’s 3D product configurator and it’s night and day.

The market is so crowded and to stand out we needed a unique configurator and PDP experience which is exactly what we have now. Our customers choose multiple sets of colors, upload custom images/svgs, some buttery 3D animations to switch to different views of the products. It handles our variants cleanly including dynamic pricing and some custom line item properties, seems faster to load than the other 3D apps we trialed, performant on older devices we’ve tested it on, solid on mobile, etc. And their team got hands on with us when we hit a few snags which helped quite a bit. We're seeing a lift in conversion and AOV already and will soon have more data on return rates hopefully being lowered as well.

I’m a believer that 3D is the future of eCommerce and Aircada has made it possible for us to have a one of a kind customizer without paying a fortune for some custom coded solution that inevitably turns into a nightmare to manage (we’ve been down that road before). So cheers to that.

Aircada’s product configurator is dialed!. We searched far and wide for a solution. Tried countless customizer apps, even hired a developer to build on top of one which did not pan out. Finally got in touch with the Aircada team right as they were launching and we're stoked that we did.

Setup was smooth, all aspects of our product model were customizable, and the performance sealed the deal.
