Merchants describe this app as simple to install and intuitive to use—just enable, set preferences, and let it run in the background. It quickly adds AI-generated alt text to product and variant images, saving hours of manual work and boosting SEO and accessibility, especially for large catalogs. Many value the strong functionality on the free plan and repeatedly praise the fast, friendly, and proactive customer support.

I installed the Alt Text King app expecting it to handle variants properly, since the description clearly suggests you can use {{ variant }} in templates. In reality, it only works for a single “main variant image.” If you want full functionality for variant alt text, you’re pushed to install and pay for their other app (Variant Image).

This feels misleading. The app is advertised as if it supports variants, but in practice it does not unless you buy an extra add-on. When I raised this, support tried to upsell me the second app, then offered a “6 months free” deal after I called it out.

Alt Text King is incomplete on its own. If you need proper variant support, you’ll end up paying more. Not what I expect from a professional Shopify app provider.
