AvantLink Affiliate Marketing

From a brand perspective, particularly for finding affiliates anywhere outside the US - absolutely not worth it.

We joined Avantlink and paid their $1000 integration fee before we were able to search their partner database (US, Canada and Australia). Before signing up, we were told that their specific focus was outdoor/active lifestyle influencers, which was perfect for our brand. When we actually got access to their database, it is full of coupon and price comparison sites, which still show up even after you filter by content creators only. In our first few months, we were bombarded with applications from these coupon sites, and Avantlink approves these applications by default after a week.

When we told Avantlink that the quality of affiliates in outdoor recreation was disappointingly poor, they sent through their "Top 50" in a spreadsheet. Of the 50 on the list (that was supposed to be high quality content creators in outdoor lifestyle), about 16 were coupon or sub-affiliate sites, 22 were not relevant to any outdoor brand (plenty of guitar sites), and only 9 were actually content creators who might have been a suitable fit for our brand. Half of those would be pretty marginal.

On top of all that, their interface is TERRIBLE. You can't even add pics or video of your product to your brand profile page. How do you set yourself apart?

So for emerging outdoor brands - stay away from Avantlink!!
