What is Carbon Offsetting and why is it necessary?

How It Works:

• Simply install the CarbonCart app on your Shopify shop
• The cost of carbon offset is calculated internally by CarbonCart based on the products that the customer chooses to offset. 7% of the price of the offset is used for overhead and maintenance.
• Customers pay a fractional price to offset the carbon footprint of your order
• We use these funds to purchase carbon credits from Gold Standard-certified climate projects to offset the carbon footprint of the products that are purchased. Projects include cultivating mangrove forests in the ocean, planting trees, investing in new technology research, and supporting social development projects that alleviate poverty around the world.
• We update you each month with impact metrics that tell you exactly how much good your store has done for the planet

Why We Built CarbonCart

CarbonCart was created by three fashion industry professionals who were eager to see positive change within the fashion system. Despite being one of the most polluting industries in the world, fashion has been slow to adopt ecologically friendly measures. The founders of CarbonCart set out to provide a way for consumers to take measures into their own hands and offset the environmental consequences of their purchases in a simple and affordable way.

After the CarbonCart app was developed specifically for the fashion industry, the founders decided to include every industry in its implementation. This larger scope allows for a greater scale of carbon offsetting, more informed consumers, and a healthier planet.
