CartBot: Gift with purchase

It's insane how easy this plugin is!! I've been looking for a way to easily add a free product based on criteria, never found a good solution until now!!

Initially had some issues getting to bot to function properly with a custom checkout setup I have. But the team was super helpful eventually tracked down the problem + fixed it.

It does not do what it advertises.
It does not add products automatically as advertised, they say they can NOT do it due to Shopify regulations.
My problem is that I want to be able to ask for a deposit when renting a product or selling a subscription (note: not a free sample or a free product). The deposit works as a deterrent and it would be clearly stated in the product page. I do not think any regulation should avoid this possibility to enforce a product (deposit) when another is added to the cart.
If this is not true, then the app should change their advertisement and claim that they can only add "*FREE* product and free gift automatically", or enabling the user to choose how to execute it with a clear and explicit warning about the regulations. If any of these 2 options happen I am happy to remove this review.

We've been using this app to simply add a 'free sample' for every purchase. It's super simple to setup and I've NEVER had any issues after it was created.

The only missing feature is that there is (that I can find) no way to have a rule *exception*. For example, if someone adds just a Gift Card to the cart CartBot will still add the sample (which requires shipping) thus adding shipping fee to the gift card only order.

I've been really struggling to find a solution for my subscription business where I can immediately swap one SKU for another at the point of purchase. My subscription app does product swaps on renewal but I couldn't find anything that would create an immediate swap. It was looking very complicated and costly to do, until I found you! This worked straight away and honestly couldn't have been simpler! I could hug you through the screen! Thank you so much.
