Why is the burden of onboarding and convincing other merchants to use Collective falling entirely on us? Shopify should be actively promoting this feature and driving merchant adoption. When I reach out to potential partners, I'm frequently met with skepticism. One merchant explicitly asked how they could verify I was a real business and not a scammer. Others have told me they immediately delete Collective invitations from unfamiliar stores out of distrust.

Shopify, you’ve built a tool with massive potential to benefit your merchants, but the lack of platform-level backing and verification makes it incredibly hard to use. You need to step up the education, marketing, and security trust-marks so we don't have to do all the heavy lifting.

There issues that are not made clear in the setting up of a Collective account. One glaring issue is that you as the seller are responsible for chargeback from the supplier

Really bothers me that I cannot delete some variants that do not fit my store - eg if an item comes in 20 colors I need to stock all 20 even though only 3 are right for me.

This app is bulky. Hard to use. I can't find products from businesses that I would like to sell. There are too many "pages" to go through to find what I am looking for. I just want to be able to find the products I want on my website and be able to negotiate margins with brands, especially if we are already working with them for a specific margin, I would like to let a brand know that.

UPDATED 1-15-2026. I just sold a product via this app, and after shipping, I LOST 25 cents. You need to give us the ability to change vendor pricing to cover calculated shipping fees. This is a business, not a charity.

You should have the ability to adjust the price, but it’s crucial to pay attention to supplier margins. When margins are already low, shipping costs can easily wipe out your profit — sometimes leaving only a few dollars, or even putting you in the negative. More and more suppliers are dropping margins to around 20% (I even saw one as low as 8% tonight), which is really disheartening. It makes it hard to stay motivated with retailers, because this could have been such an amazing opportunity.

Thank you for the feedback on pricing flexibility! Please note that shipping costs should not be coming out of your margin, as its a separate cost paid by the customer. If you are finding that this is not the case, please reach out to the Shopify Support team.

I DONT KNOW IF IM MISSING SOMETHING IN THIS APP BUT THEIR PRODUCTS ARE THE SAME AS TEMU AND SHEIN, BUT THEIR PRICES ARE OUTRAGIOUS. A BOUBCE GOUSE THAT IS A 100 BUCKS IS SOLD ON THIS FOR 550. WHO WOULD PAY THAT? LIGHT UP BALLS THAT ARE LESS THAN $4.00 IS $1,000. I WONT BE USING THIS APP NOR DO I RECCOMEND IT. I WAS FINALLY EXCITTED TO GET TO UE THID BECAUSE THE SUBSCIPTION IS PRICE IS VERY REASONABLE $7,00 A MONTH. BUT WITH THOSE KIND OF PRICEDS I CANT SEE ME MAKING A SINGLE SALE. IDK CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSEKLF THEY HAVE A FREEE SUBSCRIPTION THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE COST OF THE PRODUCTS. I HOPE THAT IM WRONG , BUT I DONT SEE HOW.

Shipping Charges will kill you. Need more transparency upfront when importing goods.
Don't waste your time on anything with less than a 40% margin, its a waste of time.
Importing products is not as straightfoward as it seems. Tons of issues with getting variant selectors to work on a storefront.

Bottom line, proceed with caution but there are good partners out there

Einfaches Einrichten und Importieren.
Leider funktioniert das Ganze nicht, da ich keine Bestände übertragen bekomme. Angeblich sei ShopifyPayments nicht fertig eingerichtet, ist aber alles eingerichtet.

Thank you for the feedback! If possible, please contact Shopify Support so that they can advise or dive deeper into why Payments is showing as not fully connected if you've completed all of the steps. This is a required piece of onboarding onto Collective so it must be complete.
