We used this app for a number of years on our B2B wholesale site. Combined with Locksmith we had a great B2B secure site. 2 months ago we started having issues with the app, when we asked for support, Bold upgraded us from version 2 to version 3 without asking and without any considerations to the site. By doing this they broke our site and we had to take the site down for several days. We kept escalating to their support team and eventually managed to get a patched site together, After 6 weeks of dealing with them with NO progress or support, we eventually decided to look at other apps. We received the nice sorry cannit help and if you need anything contact us email. We use Bold apps across 4 sites we run and have really noticed a change in the last 12 months in their level of support and continual increases in prices. My recommendations are that you look at alternatives for a long term partner. They are not as "hungry" and supportive as other app providers. I think they have just become too big. Such a shame. Stay safe everyone.
Thank you very much for your honest feedback, I am sorry to hear that you have had a less than positive experience so far, our goal is to help you succeed. I have checked in with our support team and can see that they have reached out to learn more - please keep an eye out for email communication from us to help you get the issue resolved!
Great App with amazing potential but....
I upgraded to Premium to take advantage of the CSV upload. After spending hours reworking the CSV to match their template I was prompted with a The CSV a "Service Unavailable" after uploading the file. According to BoldApps they are supposed to be open at 5pm CST but after calling multiple times from 2pm -3pm CST and leaving messages I received no call back. Over the next seven hours I received 2000+ individual emails stating that specific items could not be uploaded. All Handles and SKUs were taken directly from my Shopify CSV and therefore are exact.
I did get through to Bold Apps once earlier today and Jessica put me through to Holly who discussed the CSV in detail. We discussed the handles being the same and SKUs varying and I followed those instructions. Updates to come soon.
Where do we start, we used bold custom pricing for about 3 years, so not new to them. In the last 12 months there has been many bugs stopping a smooth operation. They have a poor quality customers service which is the most important part of any app developer. I tried calling them and speaking to them on chat, but they really are a waste of time. We are testing other custom pricing apps on shopify to find a better solution. I think this is the problem with companies like bold, they focus on making as many apps and making as much money, that they take there eyes of the most important thing, a quality product and excellent customer service, Hope this helps someone avoid problems like we have , thanks
Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry for the experience you've had in the past. We've always made sure our merchants are taken care of in a timely manner as each and every merchant is important. Again we really appreciate your feedback and we will continuously work on better improving our product and in providing excellent customer service.
I have requested to give me an update a week ago, and yet the team fail to deliver app updates on time nor fail to give me prompt response.
I was offered a 3 month free trial to use this app with follow up emails and great response in the beginning and when my billing cycle came up I was charged the $29.99 on my credit card. I sent emails and to this day have not had a response. Its unfortunate that as these app companies get bigger we the customer seem to fall through the cracks of auto responders. As much as I would like to give a good reveiw on the product the lack of response when it comes to my money being taken is a no go for me.
Could never get this to work and will discontinue the app. Have been paying for months thinking I would turn it on at some point, but have decided it is not worth the effort. Will just continue to build multiple products for retail and wholesale. Service started out at a 5 star and dropped to 2 stars since it would take days to get a response to attempted fix, to another few days to attempt to fix what the first attempt broke. Never did get it right. What a waste.
I have been using the app for a couple of months now, and i am not at all satisfied with it, but i also can't have my shop without it.
Just to warn others before making your shop depend on it.
First of all, support from bold is EXTREEMLY slow, so when you have an issue, prepare yourself to be really patient.
Second of all, Bold can't agree internally if this app works with their subsciption app, some say it does, other say it is compatible in some situation, and then others agian say not at all, this depends entirely on the individual you are put in contact with.
Also what bold does not tell you is YOU CAN'T USE COMPARE AT PRICES when using this app, at least that's what they told me, although it does work in some situations and not in others, i have doubts about this explanation, as it should be a general problem with compare at prices, but it just isn't, so i suspect this is just a way to go arround seriously helping me with my issue. The issue i have is that even though i have set a custom pricing at 20% the discount on the shop, some items are not discounted at all and others have the wrong discount, the explanation from bold is that i have compare at prices on my products, but this just doesn't add up cause it works on some products and not on others, so i would expect such an incompatability to result in the same issue all the time on all products, which it doesn't.
You sould also be prepared that communication with bold requires an enormeous amount of patience. Bold almost always tries to take the easy way out, which in combination with the extremly long response times, means it could take weeks to solve a simple issue. Somtimes it even feels like they misunderstand on purpose, just to postpone the issue and make you give up on the request.
Trust me on this, if you are considering using bold, move on! Try to find another app, you are really going to spend so much time discussing, explaining and pushing for an answer, it is simply not worth your time.
This is a culmination of a series of very bad experiences with bold, also with other apps from them, and every time you need help, you will feel lost and frustrated, and i think they really deserve an honest review, that explains others what to expect. Who knows maybe it will be heard somewhere in the top of the organization, so that they realize that they are just not providing the support that you would expect of an app developer of this size!
I would give them zero stars if possible have these guys on multiple stores only find out midway through using the QB haven't been working for couple months.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that you've run into an issue with Quantity Breaks, and we would really like to look into this further for you.
Whenever convenient for you, please respond to our email and let us know when we can connect with you over the phone in order to solve this issue. Again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and would like to rectify the issue immediately.
I've used many apps on Shopify and most of them were really great. Especially the support of those apps. Fast communication and always helpfull with my questions. The service I've experienced with BOLD is the WORST service I've ever got. This app costs me $20 per month and 2 weeks ago I've installed the 'Quantity Breaks' app. It was hard to figure this out so I needed help from the support team. Since then nobody has helped me to fix it. I've send many e-mails with zero response. The only response is a question they ask and when I answered this questions for help, nobody responded anymore. This is unbelievable. I'm really dissapointed that nobody could help me set up this app. I have a lot of customers and couldn't use a quantity app now for 2 weeks. I hope someone from BOLD will see this message and will do something about this lack of support. Thanks for all the help and support.. NOT!! - A very dissapointed customer. ** NOT RECCOMMENDED TO USE THIS APP FROM BOLD **
Thank you for your honest feedback - we are sorry to hear about the lack of communication from our end and would like a second chance to get you set up for success! We can see that our team has been in touch with you this morning through your support ticket, and we are committed to turning around your experience!
First I'd like to say I am deleting this app from my shopify store right after I leave this heartfelt review of this company and product.
I could list more than just these reasons why I will never use a bold app again, however I will only list a couple in hopes that it will help at least one person steer clear of this company.
1. Horrible support. They are never available. They take days to respond sometimes. I was recently left hanging while missing out on income from wholesale customers that could have been coming in had this app been working properly. On top of this, Jay comes across as a very arrogant person when handling a customer concern. He is very short and condescending.
2. Their "install" price is gouged. If you do not know how to update and install code in to your theme, they charge you $40 for 15 minutes of work. How do I know it takes 15 mins? Because after their install team wrecked my wholesale purchasing I figured out how to work with code. I systematically checked and re- installed every single piece of coding myself. Guess what? If you change themes on shopify, you have to re-install this app and completely re- enter all of the coding. If you do not know how to do it, they will have the audacity to ask you to pay them another $40 install fee to install the app for you again. After you already paid them once to install it! What a nickel and dime kind of company you are bold.
3. Their app price is HIGHLY gouged. $50 a month for an app that requires a ton of user end work and data entry.
4. Major lack of attention to detail. Their support staff apparently knows less about code installation than someone who takes 1 day to study and learn it. When I argued with them about having to pay a second install fee to have the app on my store, they hesitantly agreed and had a support staff "re-install" the coding. This is where it all messed up and my wholesale customers were no longer to even see the variants designated for them. AT ALL! So my conclusion, along with the conclusion of a shopify support guru, is that their "install team" accidentally deleted some shopify coding and created a mess they chose to disregard. On top of this, I was a 'Premium" package user (because every nickel and dime company like bold wants you to pay that extra amount to get features that should be available anyways) and their "install team" installed the basic package. That is complete lack of attention to detail and it seems I was brushed aside because of my unhappiness with their product's function.
This app is clunky. It seems very slung together and way too complex (even though I know how to fully operate it). If you need a good app that will let you designate specific pricing for all types of customers, while hiding it from others' view, I HIGHLY recommend the "Locksmith" app. I am not at all affiliated with the creators of that app. Just a very disappointed customer who found a new solution when bold apps failed me. What took me more than 30hrs of data entry to accomplish with this app, took me 30 minutes with the locksmith app.
Goodbye Bold, you lost a customer and I will tell everyone to avoid you from here on out.
