So far, this has opened me up to a lot of scamming, and I'm being charged the chargeback fees once a bank fraud claim is issued. So Shopify is making $0.35 on every $1 donation, the donation is not being caught by Shopify fraud detection and instead automatically fulfilled, the real person disputes and I'm charged $16. My store will go broke very quickly at this rate.

Card testing fraud is unfortunately a growing issue across all Shopify stores, not just those with donations. Fraudsters use small transactions to validate stolen card numbers, and because donations are typically low-value, they can slip past Shopify's built-in fraud filters.

We've looked into this and it appears these donations are being added via direct cart access (Shopify's cart API), not through the DonateMate widget. Unfortunately, this is a broader Shopify storefront issue where bots can add any product — including donation products — directly to the cart, bypassing all on-page widgets.

After searching for months for a donation app that would fit out needs, I came across DonateMate. It was very easy to install and integrate on our POS, but the best part was how user friendly it was on the POS for my staff to use. We are a museum and our staff is not the most computer savvy, so finding something that was easy and stress free for them to use was amazing. Thanks, Ben, for a great and thoughtful product.
Great app! We needed something quick and easy to set up with donations for our new website and this was easy to set up and get going. Right from the start before we even downloaded the app Ben has been so extremely helpful with all of our questions and dev needs. He was able to set the app up for us in our website exactly as we needed it and was so responsive every step of the way. We had some issues with the POS button, but Ben was patient and helped us to find the setting we needed to update. Everything is working smoothly now.
The ability to ask for Donations on the cart page has increased our donations substantially. I like it better that a popup, less obtrusive for the customer. Visible, but not annoying. We don't use the post-purchase feature because all our customers must go through the cart page.
