What started out as the earliest solution to IOSS reporting, which worked really well seems to have now deteriorated in to a non-functional service. My integration stopped working in April 2024, in early September 2024 they alerted me to this (I should have noticed sooner, but the whole process is meant to be automated and it just slipped through my radar). They claimed it was because my version of the app wasn't updated and I needed to update permissions... which I can't do. The app developer has to push app updates, and they already had full permissions.
They were reviewing the problem... one month later I log in to pay my invoice. The app still isn't syncing data. A week later, still nothing, and no update from Cross Border IT. I'd been collecting VAT from my customers for months, and sending them off with my IOSS number, relying on CBIT to perform the service for which I was paying them €110 a month.
I finally give up, find a new provider, uninstall their app, and it's taken a further month for them to manually process the data so I can fulfil my tax obligations. I can only hope they fulfil their side of the contract and do declare the payment?
But basically avoid, there's more economical services out there for small business, who also provide a service which actually works, with timely customer service.

At the start, when everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off, along came Crossborderit with a simple(ish) solution. Yay!

We signed up at the very outset.

It wasn't always too clear what we were actually being charged and we put in a lot of work trying to reconcile our charges with what we had sold. We even had a letter from the Swedish tax authorities saying we'd possibly underpaid an item.

But hey-ho, it was still a solution!

Now I get an increase of 4 - or is it 500% in the charges?

I don't think so!

This would make our meagre sales into the EU actually cost us money. It wouldn't just reduce our profit, it would actually cost us money to sell into Europe.

I notice that Crossborderit say that they only have 2 negative reviews out of 400 daily users. I wonder when they made their count of 400? I wonder how many of those 400 are biding their time until the price-hike hits.

We will certainly be jumping ship for a more cost-effective solution.

Thanks for working with us. We were stuck in to the confusion of the tax authorities. We got that sorted out but totally understand not being a good fit.

Been Ok for 12 months but they've pushed the price to $99 per month, no options for small businesses. You need to be sending a lot to warrant this price and there are still better options. We now use EAS, way better value for us.

Some of my orders weren't showing up in Crossborderit. It took 6 weeks and a lot of back and forth with support before the developer finally discovered that there was a bug in their Shopify integration. The developer seems to be very uncommunicative and slow to find and resolve bugs -- the support team told me that the developer was unavailable for an entire month, and then it took another full month after they returned to resolve the bug. They seem to only have one developer so there's no redundancy if he's on vacation.

In combination with them increasing their prices to 99 euros/month, I definitely wouldn't recommend this service.

Started with a fair and transparent pricing model but started adding new fees, now have added a 99 euro monthly charge. Would not recommend.

Really poor service from the start with lots of overcharging on individual transactions forcing us to cross check every transaction! Now a significant price increase has made us stop using Crossborderit. They even gave the Swedish Tax Agency a false reason. We stopped using Crossborderit not IOSS! Developer support isn't great as well. Moving to another intermediary is the only choice for accurate reporting and transparent pricing.

We used their services for 1 year and 4 months and for the most part it was fine. During this time we did receive multiple 'No activity Report' emails stating "Our Tax Authorities constantly monitors all IOSS usage and if there are orders not reported to us, your account will be flagged and will be cancelled.' I would email just to make sure they did receive our reports and Mae would assure us our account was fine.

Then there were Invoice Payment Reminders sent when invoices were already paid...that happened multiple times as well.

On December 15th, during the holidays, they sent an email about a price increase that starts on January 2023 from 24.00 a month to 99.00 a month.

They mentioned in their email: " We understand this new structure may be challenging for some shippers and more beneficial to others. There are some competitors who offer services at rates close to our original rates if the new structure is a challenge for you. Please feel free to reach out to our customer service if you would like to discuss." When asked that question the reply I received was "Unfortunately, we do not have information about other competitors that we can recommend. We just received an update that the new pricing will be moved to February 2023. "

We cancelled and are now with Eurora.

I was initially happy with the service. But the 500% price hike stinks. Hooking people in then hike the charges by an outrageous amount is poor behaviour and I have cancelled my account..

This is a new company that is extremely disorganised. They have a hidden charge of 3% on euro to euro transfers so it's not flat fee at all. They also send upwards of 5 invoices per month (4 tax and 1 service) causing absolute havoc in cross-checks and bureaucracy. Only the app is automated which is a separate fee. We thought it was teething problems and worked through bugs with them but 6 months in and it's still a total mess.

Thanks for your review, We are working very hard in a changing environment to be compliant with Tax authorities.
Invoicing will improve in the New Year. Invoices will be inside the portal which should help your frustration. This will help the overall user experience.

We hoped this would be a good solution for IOSS and Shopify but unfortunately at this time it is not. Not only is it one of the most expensive solutions out there (1 euro per transaction admin fees) it is also faulty and a complete mess. Agree with previous review regarding invoicing, its totally confusing with multiple invoices flying towards us, the dashboard does not work or if it does work it is not easy to use, i believe the issue is the former. We identified that refunds were not being downloaded from shopify and support does not seem to understand shopify as a platform or their own platform fully, we simply do not trust the product, have tried to stick with it for convenience in the hope that it gets better but about 6 months on and there is no significant / obvious improvements, we are leaving the product for a much cheaper solution which will hopefully work, failing that we will use an app to download the data and submit to a company that way to handle IOSS. Unfortunately cannot recommend which is a real shame, currently in our opinion the setup is a mess, for the amount they charge it should be fully working by now. UPDATE to readers of this review. Please kindly do not email us asking us who to use as an alternative as we cannot advise you on what will work for your business, the solutions and costing are varied, we used google to find solutions. We are only now trying other solutions so we cannot comment on them being better or worse at this stage. We are trying Ship24 currently, others to potentially look at are VATDigital who do not have an app, or Lovat who have what looks like a very good app, but its on the more expensive end. Best of luck in choosing the solution that works for you. Disclaimer and final remarks on Crossborderit, this review is our own opinion based on our experience, it may work for you, you have the option to try it, it did not work for us, you can cancel it, there is no long contract that we know of at the time of writing this. UPDATE 2: We have found that this software solution does not calculate VAT on shipping refunds resulting in discrepancies and over paid VAT, we are still in dispute with this company months down the line and trying to get them to accurately calculate our VAT return, a service we paid them to do. Would advise you to check your refunds and ensure VAT on shipping is being calculated, as you could be overpaying VAT.

We appreciated your support and working with us as the regulatory environment for IOSS has changed and in some ways been improved. We are working diligently to improve our system and would love to address some of the concerns you have voiced.
• Our prices are designed to allow you to pass the cost to the customer. Most of our customers have enjoyed flat fee and can easily pass it to the buyer, who would pay €7-15 on entry without our services.
• The 3% is just a transparent reflection of what you would pay Shopify, PayPal or any other payment processor including credit cards. The idea is to be transparent so the merchant can pass the fee to the customer.
• We have new payment and invoicing options improving weekly.
• The invoices that you are concerned about are actually not invoices however a statement of VAT(Sales Tax) owed. Each customer collects this in the checkout. These fees are not Crossborderit fees as you highlighted we send our fees just once a month. However we try to remind what is owed to the Governments for taxes.
• We are working closely with the European tax authorities which makes us move consistently and adapt to what they need.

We now have two negative reviews on our app and have close to 400 daily users. I regret that your experience was not what you expected. We are working very hard in a changing environment to make sure that our users are compliant and we are doing everything the government needs to make this process successful.

We are not perfect but are working very hard to improve consistently.
