Are customer exchanges a thorn in your side?
Do you dread receiving returned packages from your mail carrier because you know it means extra work for you? Not any more! With Exchange It, you can easily integrate exchange requests into your regular workflow. There's no need to keep a separate list of exchange requests to be fulfilled.
When you receive a return from a customer with an exchange request, simply open the customer's original order within Shopify, click "Exchange with Exchange It" and create a new order! You'll be given the option to select the product(s) to return (and restock, if desired). Exchange It automatically populates the original shipping and email addresses, which can be edited if you need to send the new item to someone else. From there, simply select the new product from a drop-down list and "place" the exchange order. This opens a new order which is tagged as an exchange, while also adding a note to the original order which indicates that it has been exchanged for a new order.
Is this app for you?
Exchange It is intended for stores that frequently exchange items of equal value, like a size small shirt for a size medium, or similar. No new funds are collected through Exchange It.
Processing "uneven" exchanges
This app works best for "even exchanges" but it can also work for exchanges of different values. See below.
-To exchange an item of LESSER value, simply issue a refund within the original order for the difference, then proceed to process the exchange with Exchange It.
-To exchange an item of GREATER value, it is easiest to choose the "create order" option on the Shopify Orders screen. You can then select the customer, add a product from your store, and issue a "discount" for the amount paid for the original item. We suggest adding a note to the order that explains why the discount was issued and referring back to the original order number. You can then email the invoice to your customer for payment. Once payment is received, the order will enter your regular queue.
Also works for replacement orders
You can also use Exchange It to quickly and easily send replacement orders to customers who received damaged products or for shipments that don't get delivered. Simply process the replacement order just like an exchange, but consider adding a note such as "replacement for damaged item."

I really like this app, it's easy to navigate, however, there is one thing that I wish you could improve on. When I'm exchanging for another product and input - for example: Barrio Navy Joggers - 20 different styles comes up which are not related to the 'Barrio' name. Sometimes I have to scroll through a lot of items to find the right one. I wish the search filter could narrow down items to just this style and not 20 different styles of joggers. Hope this makes sense. Other than that, the app is good.
Thanks for your review. Glad to hear you enjoy our app! When searching for a product in Exchange It, all product fields (title, description, etc) are searched. In your example of "barrio," I suspect that the other items that are showing up have "barrio" somewhere in the product description or were at one time duplicated from the "original" barrio item, if that makes sense. The more specific you can be in your search query, the better. In fact, you can search by SKU for optimal results. I hope that helps to clear things up!
