We've been using the Facebook & Instagram app by Meta on our Shopify store to connect our product catalog with social media, and overall, the experience has been mixed. The integration between Shopify and Meta platforms is seamless once set up correctly. Our product catalog syncs automatically, making it easy to tag products on Instagram and Facebook, which has helped boost product visibility. The built-in connection with the Meta Pixel also allows us to track customer behaviour and run retargeting ads effectively. However, the initial setup process is not beginner-friendly. It involves multiple steps—from verifying the domain to linking the correct Business Manager, Catalog, and Ad Account—and can be frustrating if you're not familiar with Meta’s backend systems. Approval for Instagram Shopping took longer than expected and lacked clear feedback. Support through the app is limited, and most issues require navigating Facebook Business Manager, which isn't always intuitive. Despite the challenges, the app is a powerful tool for selling across Meta’s platforms once everything is connected properly. For small business owners or new users, there’s a learning curve, but it’s worth the effort. We’d rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
The Facebook App on Shopify is a helpful tool for connecting your store to Facebook and Instagram. It makes it easy to sync your products, run ads, and track performance using the Facebook Pixel.
What I like:
Easy to link products to Facebook and Instagram
Ads are easier to manage
Good tracking for how your ads are doing
Helps set up Facebook and Instagram Shops quickly
What could be better:
Setup can be confusing if you have more than one account
The layout of your Facebook Shop can’t be changed much
Support is sometimes slow to respond
Overall, it’s a great app if you want to sell through social media. Just be ready for a few setup issues at the start.
I keep submitting my info over and over and over again and it keeps getting rejected because the address isn't the same. Can a business not move during it's 16 years of operation? There is no way to convey what should be logic and common sense for you to figure out, especially in the case of the document I've provided. The document I provided is one that is like a social security card, you keep the original safe for your entire life. In this case, the document is kept the entire life of the business. There's no getting a 'change of address' for this document. You people suck because if there was a way to include a note regarding the fact that I keep submitting this over and over and you call would read that note, my shop would be producing more revenue through you stupid platform and you'd be making money on ads because I would likely to choose to create them at that point given I can fully sell on the platform. But if you all can't understand an FEIN form and the FACT that it has my original business address on it from 16 years ago when I opened the business and that is the reason it is not the same as my address 16 years later??? My goodness..... SMH
It's beneficial for social media marketing. Many of my clients check out those two Apps first before visiting my website
I’m facing an issue with the Facebook & Instagram application. I recently noticed that after installing it, there is no option to reconnect an existing catalog. The app automatically creates a new catalog instead.
Please add an option to connect or assign an existing catalog during setup. This feature is essential for those who already have a catalog set up.
Connecting to Facebook and IG has never been easier. Normally you have to install the Pixel on your website (shopify) code, but this makes the process easier. Remember to document your process and write down Meta passwords. Thanks Meta!!
Absolutely impossible! A nightmare experience every time I try to even connect to meta via SHOPIFY. The hours I have spent mucking about with it. And then I totally ignore it for months as it is so soul sucking until I have to do it again because my products have disappeared. It used to be seamless when it was just SHOPIFY and Instagram.
Facebook makes it difficult if not IMPOSSIBLE to FIND, Locate & Talk to customers without having to dig through the back end to only accidently stumble across the tools they need to sell properly.
EVERYTHING SHOULD GO THROUGH SHOPIFY!!!
Facebook Shop is not set up properly.
And most people do not ever end up seeing customer inquiries or orders half the time!
It's annoying.
Again - everythiong should go through Shopify!
I am having a bad experience. I have several issues within meta business suite with mt catalog when running ads and tagging post. I have been trying to get this resolved for two months. The newest problem caused me to stop all ads because I am wasting money if my catalog is not functioning as it should. I cannot get anyone to follow through and help me. This has a substantial impact on my ability to make sales and I have spent thousands on ads. I had a call scheduled today and never received that call. I am very frustrated as facebook ads was the only place I was advertising and then these critical issues appear and no one can help me. I spent 4 hours yesterday waiting for help and 12 hours of my day was wasted on this issue and today I don't get that scheduled call. I don't even know how to move forward now. So much time and energy wasted over the past couple months and all I need is these issued fixed. I get bounced around from tech support person to another person only to be doing the same things over and over with no resolution. I am frustrated and cannot do these chats as they are not effective. I was very excited about this new venture and was getting sales and now I am shut down because I cannot get the help I need from facebook. I cannot even call someone or open a new chat. They want me to sit in front of a computer for hours just waiting for someone to rejoin the chat. This is a terrible experience and lots of money was wasted and my latest campaign is no longer listed.
I’ve been using this app to track my Facebook and Instagram ads, but the reporting is totally inaccurate. It counts in-person store sales as if they came from my ads, which is completely wrong and makes my data useless. I tried reaching out to Meta support multiple times, but no one seems to care or even respond. As a business owner, I need real numbers to make smart decisions—this app doesn’t deliver. Disappointing experience all around.
