I've used Gleam in the past but I am enjoying the integration with Shopify. I do wish there were options to earn entries by doing things native in the Shopify store (For example: visiting a blog) but I understand that this can be accomplished through less direct means.
Thanks for the review! Deeper Shopify itegration has been in the backlog for a while. You're aboslutely correct though - there are workarounds (e.g. visit actions, questions, custom actions) so unfortuantely it keeps getting bumped in priority.
Rather pricey after the free trial. The same thing can be accomplished with Mailchimp and a little scripting. We found the app OK, but as we said way over priced for most smaller shops.
Just posted my first competition and if I can do it anyone can. Easy, streamlined, and pretty great. For once, an app that isn't overly complicated, what a refreshing change. Massive potential here, I'm looking forward to getting to know this friend better :) Thanks
Gleam is a great app that is fairly easy to use. I was able to set up a competition quickly.
I did not read anywhere that, with the free version, I would only be able to see a small fraction of the total number of users/entries that were submitted to my competition. So when the time was up, I was only able to see a few and would have had to pay to see the rest. This is why I gave 4 stars.
Otherwise, this is a pretty well built app!
So far so good, very easy navigation, better than other apps that do similar things. Looking forward to using Gleam in future giveaways.
The best review app we had ever used! The free feature does the job although you could get more with the paid subscription! Kodus to everyone in the team who worked hard to create this app and made for small businesses like us to use. It is not so many people out there who are willing to share this for free. Amazing app overall!
I had been persisting with trying to use this app on the free plan but after much consideration ended up going to the Pro plan. $49USD a month seemed manageable. I then got notification that they had authorised a $5000 a month spending limit on the app on my shopify. What the HELL? There is no way I would authorise that much spending limit on the app. This feels super scammy - i've since requested account deletion and taken other steps to ensure I am not charged that much but what kind of app needs that level of account charges authorised?? The plans are super confusing and it costs way too much for any kind of useful app features. EDIT: Developers came back to me very quickly to refund the $49 charge and cancel our account. Something to do with their set up/billing system?
Unfortunately, our billing is pretty complicated (four products and "credits") so we weren't able to use the normal Shopify subscription model. We needed to have that $5000 charge limit so we're able to charge based on usage or any possible plan purchase. Having it set up like that means we're able to charge your Shopify site like a credit card (so it works just like our normal billing).
I got your request to close your account and I've also refunded that $49 charge we made.
This price point is interesting. Will see how things go!
Actually it is useless to my website. I installed it to post a giveaway, but it worked not well at all. It'll cost 158$ on my billing list.
Thanks for your review! I can see you've upgraded to an unnecessary Rewards plan alongside your Competitions one - just submit a support ticket and someone on the team will gladly help you rectify this problem and reverse the charges on your Shopify bill :)
Unfortunately, this APP doesn't support other languages than English.
Well, they say it supports 25 languages (French included) but in reality... Many of translations are missing (so phrases remain in English), are weird and not natural, or are made with Google translator which is even worse I think.
And if you would like to change all these texts by yourself, you have to pay 100$/month more for a plan that includes this option.
Too bad because app seems to be good (but I'm not sure because I couldn't even run any contest because of this language issue).
Thanks for your feedback, we've since overhauled our translation process to ensure higher quality and faster turnaround time for highlighted issues like this.
Sorry for the poor experience there!
