Reach shoppers on Google - on any budget

Shopify’s Google Shopping app makes it easy for you to reach the millions of shoppers that use Google to find the products they need. Eligible merchants can:

  • Run paid Smart Shopping campaigns to promote products across Google

  • List products for free on Google’s Shopping tab (merchants selling in the U.S. only)

Regardless of your budget, you can get your products in front of shoppers when they are looking for them.

Smart Shopping campaigns are paid ads that help you reach shoppers on YouTube, Gmail, Google Search, and across Google Display Network. To set up a Smart Shopping campaign, just sync your products and set a daily budget. Google will optimize your campaign and choose the best time and place to show your products to shoppers.

Additionally, free listings on the Google Shopping tab help you get in front of the millions of shoppers that use Google to discover and purchase all types of products. These free listings appear specifically in search results of the Google Shopping tab. Free listings are rolling out to eligible merchants selling in the U.S. and Google aims to make them available to more Shopify merchants globally before the end of 2020.

What's a Google Smart Shopping campaign?

Google Smart Shopping campaigns are paid ads that use automated bidding and ad placement to promote your products across Google’s networks.

What does a Google Smart Shopping campaign cost?

You set your own daily budget. The minimum recommended budget is $5 per day. You only pay if someone clicks on your ad.

What is the Google Shopping tab?

The Google Shopping tab allows shoppers to search for products. Search results highlight merchants that shoppers can purchase from. In the past, merchants had to pay in order to be listed. Now, search results within the Google Shopping tab primarily include free listings alongside paid ads.

Can I run both a Smart Shopping campaign and have a free listing at the same time?

Yes, you can run both at the same time. A free listing can support your paid ads and ensure you’re discoverable across more surfaces on Google.

I was just looking at the finer details of the feed and it looks like the shopping feed URLs are appended with auto populated UTM parameters. Do you know if there is an option to remove those from the feed?

My only concern at this stage is that the traffic from shopping campaigns will be going under the (other) channel grouping as opposed to paid search and may not be attributed to the shopping campaigns.

I think ideally the parameters would be removed and allow Google auto tagging to tag the URL.

This app is for those who trust Google with their 'Smart Shopping' campaigns, but not suitable for proper Google Shopping Campaigns (where you can manage bids and segment, switching products on and off etc.). Smart Shopping does not provide the best ROI for businesses so would recommend choosing a more versatile tool and managing your Ads more effectively.

Mixed bag. I have a love/hate relationship with this app. On the one hand, it delivers the best google smart shopping campaign results and for that reason I cannot delete it. On the other hand, 2 problems. First, the app is somehow sending false info to merchant center were a few products are constantly accused of violating shopping policies whereas i know for a fact that's not true. And second, inside google ads, you cannot segregate your product groups very well at all...for example, you cannot set product groups by brand or manufacturer or many unique ID features. So, there is limited flexibility inside your google ads account when only relying on this data feed. I'm using another google feed app (paid) concurrently with this one for the added flexibility that I need inside my ads account. That feed is not delivering the same errors into merchant center, far as I can see. But on the ads delivery, some product pages remain blocked no matter what I try. I'm so frustrated by this! Can't find anyone who is able to troubleshoot why the app is sending false positive info on ads violation policy when I am 100% sure there is no violation. As I stated the other data feed is sending them through with no errors.
