DO NOT TRUST THIS APP - IT'S FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN
I've spent over £100 on Google Shopping ads across multiple campaigns and received ZERO sales. Not because my products are bad, not because my store isn't optimized, but because this app is broken and Google refuses to fix it.
Here's what happened:
BROKEN CONVERSION TRACKING:
The app shows "95 conversions" in Google Ads while my Shopify store shows ZERO actual sales
The yellow warning "Verify your Google tag setup" has been there for WEEKS and won't clear, even after following all troubleshooting steps
Google Ads is counting random events (page views, add-to-carts) as "conversions" instead of actual purchases
This means Google's algorithm can't optimize properly because it has no real data
MISLEADING NAVIGATION:
The "Create campaign" and "Manage campaigns" buttons take you to Google Merchant Center instead of Google Ads
This makes it nearly impossible to properly configure your campaigns
I wasted hours trying to find settings that should be one click away
NO APP UPDATES SINCE 2017:
The app was launched in November 2017 and shows NO version history or update information
Critical bugs reported by merchants in recent reviews (Dec 2025 - Jan 2026) are STILL not fixed
Google has clearly abandoned proper maintenance of this app
GOOGLE SUPPORT IS USELESS:
Even Google's own support team doesn't understand how this app works (confirmed by other reviewers)
They recommend "spending more" even when you've had zero results
No accountability, no refunds, no solutions
THE REAL SCAM: Every time a campaign failed, I blamed myself. "I must have set it up wrong." So I tried again. And again. Each time losing more money. But it was never my fault - it was Google's broken app the entire time.
WHAT GOOGLE SHOULD DO (But Won't):
Fix the conversion tracking so it reports ACTUAL purchases
Update the app for the first time in 9 years
Fix the navigation so buttons go to the right place
Refund merchants who lost money due to broken tracking
Be transparent about known issues
MY RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT USE THIS APP. Save your money. Focus on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook ads, or literally ANY other advertising channel. They all have better tracking, better support, and actually work.
To Google: You're a trillion-dollar company that we trust with our email, phones, search, and everything else. The fact that you can't maintain a basic Shopify app is either incompetence or deliberate negligence. Either way, it's unacceptable.
To other merchants: Don't make my mistake. Don't blame yourself when this app fails. It's not you - it's Google's broken app. Save your money and your sanity.
Total money wasted: £100+
Total sales generated: £0
Would I recommend this app: Absolutely not
HI! OK, a lot to unpack here. First thing is I wasn't able to find an existing support case with our app team about these concerns, so it's possible you submitted a ticket to a different area at Google. I'd recommend submitting a case with our app specialists by clicking "Contact Support" within the app, or just directly, here: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app
That would let me reply privately and with more detailed information than I can do here. I'd really like to look into the discrepancy in conversions vs Shopify orders. It's possible that a theme customization or mismatch in the configuration of conversion actions is leading to the numbers being off, though Merchant Center seems to show the same conversion values being greater than 0. In your app settings, it might be worth checking the conversion actions to see if you have different values set here than your ads account would have. Either way, submitting a case would actually let our app ad specialists handle this for you.
"Update the app for the first time in 9 years" I'm not sure why you think we haven't touched the app since 2017. In fact, we rebuilt the entire app in 2019, with totally new product syncing, support flows, and Google ownership of the app itself. Since then, we are constantly adding and updating the app. In the last 6 months alone, we have added Automated Discounts, better product sync data mapping to be able to read commonly translated field values, AI data fixing, the ability to read Shopify's new Category Metaobject values that they recently launched, a fixed conversion flow to avoid issues when Shopify updated their checkout flow, plus global market alignment so you can actually opt products into multiple countries at once on Google (in 2017 you had to only pick one country to sync at a time). We've also added YouTube shopping integration and Google Product Studio directly in the app. I've also been reading and responding to many reviews for years, so to say we have "abandoned it since 2017" would be incorrect.
"Fix the navigation so buttons go to the right place" The redirect for campaign management is intentional, because Merchant Center was improved last year to become a better hub of all actions, including campaign insights and management. That page it brings you to has a message and link to Google Ads "You can view additional performance metrics for your campaigns in Google Ads"
Now, I am not an ad campaign specialist, nor can I even give you suggestions in this public forum, but if you believe the conversions are broken, you should contact our App support. I don't see any cases submitted on this from you before. I would also say that what I DO see does align with the budget suggestions, where we see conversions happening, but you are "Eligible to show ads but limited by budget"
My suggestions:
1) use the Contact us to report the conversion mismatch you are seeing
2) check the settings in the app for the analytics and metrics, and ensure the conversion tags are configured properly (it sounds like non-purchase actions may have been configured as purchase actions, which would show up in this config page)
Products are in Merchant Center but shows "0 products" in the Shopify app sales channel. Products then randomly drop out of Merchant Center into the void, not showing up in "Needs Attention" and with no history of what products are gone or what happened. The AI chatbot pretends to be helpful, knows nothing and displays over the buttons it tells you to push. I'll just count Merchant Center out of my business plan because this is literally the worst-engineered app I have ever had the displeasure of needing to use.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback regarding the issues you are experiencing with the Shopify app sales channel and Merchant Center. We apologize for the frustration caused by the syncing discrepancies and the lack of visibility into your product history.
To ensure this is investigated thoroughly, please submit a support case with our dedicated team at: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app.
When opening your case, please provide specific product IDs and variant IDs related to the products showing as "0 products" or those that have dropped out of Merchant Center. This information will help us assist you further in resolving these technical concerns.
We look forward to supporting you ~ The Google Support Team
Over the past few months, I have been extremely frustrated with the app. Despite selecting manual product sync, it continues to push products to Google Merchant Center, which is negatively impacting our performance marketing. I request you to please fix this issue at the earliest.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your synchronization settings. We can confirm that switching to manual sync is designed to halt the automatic synchronization process.
We looked into your situation, and weren't able to find a support case filed for this. After investigating your account, we discovered that the manual sync request failed due to an unusually high volume of store status updates. While we haven’t encountered this specific issue before, we have now manually updated the setting for you. Your account is now set to manual sync, and the issue is fully resolved.
Happy New Year

App is inaccurate and confusing. Google support told me this app automatically adds GA tracking code, but in that case how do we prevent double reporting with our Tag Manager, which we need for other scripts? They were unsure. Google support also doesn't seem to understand that ShopifyPlus users no longer have any access to our checkout code. There is also a warning about "mistakenly added tags" but trying to fix it is very complex, and so far ineffective.
In addition, The Google Merchant Center widget says we have 0 products / 0 approved when in fact we have 100s of live products listed there.
The only "Suggestion" from the app? Increase spend. gee thanks.
Thank you for sharing this feedback. I understand how frustrating it is to encounter tracking discrepancies and data sync issues within the app.
I checked our system but was unable to locate a support case submitted by you regarding this issue.
To help us investigate these technical issues, please submit a formal support case through our specialized portal: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app.
We look forward to assisting you.

After complaining a year ago, this app is still incredibly glitchy and does not appear to be syncing correctly with the Google Merchant Centre (GMC). I still have old products showing up on GMC - and subsequently Google pages - despite me archiving them in my Shopify backend and removing them on the GMC...only for them to reappear on GMC. Now my new products aren't syncing correctly to GMC and I can't re-verify my website...nonsensical behaviour again so have had to reach out to Google Support...again. If I could give -10/10 for this app I would.
We are sorry to hear you are still experiencing these persistent syncing and verification issues with the app. To investigate this further and work toward a resolution, could you please submit a support case?
Once you have opened a case, please provide specific item examples including product id and variant ids for the following situations you've described:
- Scenario 1: Items that have been deleted or archived in Shopify but are still appearing in your Google Merchant Center.
- Scenario 2: Items that were deleted in Shopify, manually removed from GMC, but have since been subsequently re-added to GMC.
- Scenario 3: New products that have been added or updated in Shopify but are not syncing or reflecting those updates in GMC.
Please log your case: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app with our dedicated support team we look forward to assisting you further.
I've been having the same problems as the previous Shopify merchants. My account is suspended for misrepresentation. However, I fix the so-called errors and the account is still suspended. The assistance is sub-par, only offering automated responses. I will be deleting this app as it is frustrating to use and non productive.
WARNING:
This app is a disaster for established business owners. After 13 years of building a global presence and selling to 48 countries, this app "force-created" a brand new account instead of connecting to my existing Merchant account.
Years of history, reviews, and vital business data are just gone—"POFF." We have been trying to reach support for several days with zero response. If you value your legacy data and your global business operations, STAY AWAY until they fix this account migration bug.
Extremely disappointed.
Hi! It only creates a new merchant center account if 1) You don't see your existing merchant center account in the dropdown and 2) You click "Create New Merchant Center Account" at this step
The selection box with existing merchant center accounts populates when the Google Account you use during the Google & YouTube App is an admin of an existing merchant center account. We can help you link your existing merchant center account - it's not gone or deleted!
Steps you can try:
1) Make sure the Google account you used on the app onboarding step 1 is an admin on your existing merchant center account. It must be a user on the account AND have the admin role assigned to it
2) It must be a user on the actual merchant center account, not a higher level MCA that inherits user roles. If this is the case, just send us a note here with the account you want to connect to and we can help
https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app
I did find your original ticket but the account you asked us to connect to is an MCA account, not an MCID, so it can't hold products directly, you'll need to ask us to connect an actual Merchant Center Account instead. I can reply to you on your ticket.
Our Google Marchant Center got suspended after installing for "Misrepresentation"
Fix Issue:
Provided name: ABC Company
Used name: abccompany.com
Business Info in GMC, Store Name in shopify, etc is ABC Company (not abccompany.com)
GMC & Google Ads Support are not helpful at all
It's happening to other people also

Stay far away from this app. It has made my life a nightmare. Yes, I understand there are dishonest people out there, but there are plenty of honest people too. I have spent a month fixing and patching and reading and running in circles. Now my merchant center is messed up and google ads stopped because my account is suspended. I, like many are thoroughly frustrated with Google and it lack of user-friendly features. This app is the icing on a really bad cake. I am surprised at Google. I hope thus review is published and I hope it saves others from the unnecessary pain cause by Google and this app.
Everything was explained clearly, but the account was still locked. Some websites wouldn't even load but were still approved and running on Google Shopping. The service is terrible, with no one to support or resolve the issue. Does anyone have any other advertising solutions besides this awful one?
