I recently used Rocket Image Optimizer & SEO app for my Shopify store and had a fantastic experience. The app is incredibly user-friendly and made optimizing my store's images a breeze.
All my images were optimized and the app automatically added alt tags to every image, enhancing my store's SEO. One of the most impressive results was a 32% gain in optimization.
Overall, this app delivered exactly what I needed with minimal effort on my part. Highly recommend for anyone looking to streamline their image optimization process.
This app has saved me so much time with completing alt descriptions. It's been great.
This is must-have app for any store looking to enhance site performance and improve SEO. The results speak for themselves, and the app pays for itself in no time. The customer support team is fantastic. They are quick to respond and very helpful. Highly recommended!
Seems to work really well to compress images and provide alt text. Customer service is also excellent.
Overall, it's great that such an app exists and that it's free, but it has some major issues...
1. Words in image URLs shouldn't be separated by "", but by "-". Google treats "" as if it doesn’t exist. For example, an image with the link "super-tattoo" is interpreted by Google as "super tattoo", but an image with the link "super_tattoo" is interpreted as "supertattoo". This is easy to fix, but very important.
2. The app leaves capital letters in image URLs, which is also a downside. It would be better if the image URLs were in lowercase.
3. Now, I'll move on to a huge flaw that will cause most sellers not to use the module, or if they do, it will harm them: The app modifies ALL images without giving me the option to choose which images I want to optimize. There should be an option, for example, to select specific collections or types of images that we want to optimize.
4. The fourth minor flaw is that the app is not described accurately, and I'm afraid to use two buttons because I don't know what will happen.
5. The last issue is that the app automatically changes image URLs without my prior analysis and approval, which alters the link structure. These links might be indexed by Google before I have a chance to fix them manually (and they need fixing because of the issues mentioned above).
6. The sixth flaw is that after changing the image URLs, the app does not create 301 redirects to the new images. This can easily harm your search engine rankings.
Hi, If you are unhappy with the new filenames, you can restore images to their original versions using just 1 click from the app. If you need to undo all optimizations, we can do a bulk restore as well.
Theres very little customisation offered, just a one click optimise button for images and once it starts you can't stop it without uninstalling the app. I also can't easily restore multiple photos, you have to do them one by one and the page reloads in between. One final thing is I asked it to adjust my alt text by Product name - Product Vendor.. but the preview while its getting them done shows the optimised Alt text without the vendor while some of the original alt text contained the vendor (shown in the adjacent column). I'm hoping it doesn't remove all the alt text vendor details but time will tell. I also hope it doesn't keep reducing image size every time you run it
Excellent app and user friendly in optimising images.
Awesome app. Highly recommended.
Be aware that this app WILL rename all your files. There's no way to keep your original filenames (not even an alert stating it will happen). All my 800 files were properly named to improve SEO and now it's all gone. Opened a ticket with customer support and although they replied fast, there's nothing they could done because there is no backup. All changes are irreversible and I'll have to spend days rename the files manually. So if you already have any SEO in place DO NOT install this app.
I'm sorry that the app renamed your images. We've fixed this issue on Jul 19, and started taking a backup of existing filenames before renaming them. Now restoring image backups will also restore original filenames.
App works pretty well, continuously creating image alt texts in the background.
