About Image Sitemap
How much money are you losing on image search?
Many Shopify stores are missing large parts of their catalog imagery in Google Images — often more than 60%.
Image Sitemap is the first Shopify App that automatically builds, submits to Google Search Console, verifies, monitors, and updates a fully compliant .xml Google Image Sitemap for all images associated with each product, blog article and page in your Shopify store — all in real-time.
Image Sitemap is also the only app to provide full reporting for your indexed images.

- Sitemap Updated & Re-Submitted In Real-Time*
- Real-Time Monitoring of Google Index Performance
*If you update any product content or attributes in your catalog (like images, image ALT tags, product descriptions, variants, colors, sizes, SKUs, etc), we rebuild and resubmit your Image Sitemap to Google immediately in real-time. We declare EVERY image, regardless of how many variants you have per product. So if you have 500 products, with 20 images per product. We submit 10,000 images to Google for you.
What is an image sitemap?
An image sitemap is similar in format to a normal sitemap.xml, except that it specifies images only. Most people don't know that search engines need an additional sitemap to help find images. The internet is just too big to find everything all the time.
Do I need one?
Yes. While Shopify provides an abbreviated image sitemap with only a single image per product, you need a much more comprehensive document. Our image sitemap includes ALL of your important images and is packed with additional metadata. For example, where Shopify might generate 1,000 lines of XML for you, our image sitemap will be something like 10,000 lines.
We load your image captions with all available product variant metadata, like sku, weight, color, size, description, etc. It is essential to provide this contextual information to Google to enable more powerful and relevant searches.
Image Sitemap is the first Shopify App to provide full reporting for your indexed images. We also identify potential 'Blackout' products — or products that seem to have no indexed images at all.
How big is an image sitemap?
Image sitemap files can be huge. To give an example, if your site has 3,000 product images, your .xml image sitemap could be more than 20,000 lines of code and more than 2.5MB in file size. Can you imagine editing that file manually, multiple times per day, and re-submitting it to Google by hand?

Very interesting app!
What I miss: the graph only shows the number of indexed pictures, which looks like constant grow. But we also constantly put now pictures and blogarticles up... so to measure the effectiveness, we would need to have the %percentage in the graph to see if there is improvement in indexing..
Also would be great if their the app gives direct feedback what to to do improve.

We've used this App for roughly 6 months, it has been a very slow process but gradually our images are getting indexed. It is working, we just did not anticipate it taking this long. Overall it is a good app to use.
App indexed 50% of my images but google search consoles show that it doesn´t have any improvement in impressions or clicks
Your product page has several console errors that you should talk to your web developer about: https://share.getcloudapp.com/4gumnG1m. You should have also received an email about this. If you didn't, please let us know. These errors can impact your Google SEO across the board.
The app has been installed on your site for 22 days. Your indexed images started at 7,691 of 16,703 images, or 46%. These are the number of images that were already indexed before you installed the app. Your indexed images have improved by 4% in 22 days. I would recommend that you be patient and read my articles on Medium on image indexing to evaluate your existing SEO foundation. These articles were sent in your onboarding emails. Let me know if you need me to send them again.
It makes sense that your impressions and clicks would be similar.
