Since 2005, Klarna has been taking the friction out of payments for consumers globally, allowing shoppers to pay later in interest-free payments as an easy, flexible alternative to credit. Show your customers payment plans are available while they’re still shopping, leading to more conversions at checkout for you.
On-site messaging is simple to integrate, and highlighting buy now and pay later options before checkout can increase sales. The app provides customized messaging, ranging from banners promoting your partnership with Klarna and availability of payment options, to personalized promotions on product or cart pages.
Want to add On-site messaging? First, our 3 simple steps below get you started with Klarna Payments and then you can install the On-site messaging app.
STEP 1 | Sign up with Klarna
To get started, you’ll need to create a merchant account and sign up on Klarna's website.
STEP 2 | Get & save your Klarna API credentials
Generate new API credentials by going to Settings in the Merchant portal. Download and open the file; you'll need these API credentials in the next section.
STEP 3 | Install Klarna in your Shopify store
Go to the Klarna docs website to find the setup wizard URL to guide you through the Klarna alternative payments integration for Shopify. Once integrated with Klarna, you can then easily use the On-site messaging app.
Place a trial purchase to ensure everything is working correctly. Then head to the Klarna merchant portal to cancel (make sure you don’t pay yourself)!

I changed my theme and now my placements will not load to my new theme I haven't had any trouble with the app until I changed my theme

There is a config option (within the Settings menu in the app admin) for Ad Positions to be deactivated whenever the theme is switched (to avoid on-site messaging showing up in unexpected locations after a theme change). If that setting and reactivating the Ad Positions doesn't resolve the issue, likely the currently selected CSS element used for the Ad Position doesn't exist on the new theme. You can use the autopicker or drag and drop to update the Ad Position to a new CSS element that exists in the new theme.
