Since 2005, Klarna has been taking the friction out of payments for consumers globally, allowing shoppers to pay later in interest-free payments as an easy, flexible alternative to credit. On-site messaging is simple to integrate, and highlighting buy now and pay later options before checkout can increase sales. The app provides customized messaging, ranging from banners promoting your partnership with Klarna and availability of payment options, to personalized promotions on product or cart pages.

Want to add On-site messaging? First, our 3 simple steps below get you started with Klarna Payments and then you can install the On-site messaging app.

STEP 1 | Sign up with Klarna

To get started, you’ll need to create a merchant account and sign up on Klarna's website.

STEP 2 | Get & save your Klarna API credentials

Generate new API credentials by going to Settings in the Merchant portal. Download and open the file; you'll need these API credentials in the next section.

STEP 3 | Install Klarna in your Shopify store

Go to the Klarna docs website to find the setup wizard URL to guide you through the Klarna alternative payments integration for Shopify. Once integrated with Klarna, you can then easily use the On-site messaging app.

Place a trial purchase to ensure everything is working correctly. Then head to the Klarna merchant portal to cancel (make sure you don’t pay yourself)!

I have used other BNPL apps in an other platforms and I understand the value of these apps and what they do. Most people tend to review the app itself which for me is still early days but I am extremely confident that the functionality of this app will work as intended. What I do want to review now is the service and support offered by Klarna. In my first experience, it has been absolutely outstanding, I raised a ticket for some help and within less than 10 minutes I had a real person respond to me ready to help. I requested help installing the app on my website and within several hours of the same day my app had been installed for me. Communication was great and the person helping was very polite and very professional, it was a great joy.

My shop has opened the Klarna payment method. We want to add the Klarna on site messaging method to the product page and shopping cart page. I connected to the Klarna App, but it shows that it cannot be connected. What is the reason? can you help me? I also sent an email to you, but so far I haven’t gotten a reply

Thank you for sending in your emails yesterday. Your site is integrated with Klarna indirectly, using a payment service provider. Because of this, your On-Site Messaging app will require some special set-up. One of our support agents has just responded to your email, and will assist with the set-up process.
