Getting started is easy

Streamline your email marketing workflow. Integrate your store with MailChimp.

  1. Sign up for a MailChimp account.

  2. Create a list in MailChimp (1 list per store, please).

  3. Connect your store by installing MailChimp for Shopify to your Shopify store.

You'll have the power to:

  1. Sync list and purchase data.

  2. Set up marketing automations to remind customers about items they left in their cart or viewed on your site, win back lapsed customers, and follow up post-purchase. (Now available for free accounts!)

  3. Showcase product recommendations.

  4. Track and segment customers based on purchase history and purchase frequency.

  5. View detailed data on your marketing performance in your MailChimp Dashboard.

  6. Find new customers, connect with current ones, and drive them all to your website with Facebook and Instagram ads. Then, set up Google remarketing ads to turn your site visitors into shoppers.

  8. Add discount codes created in Shopify to your emails and automations with a Promo Code content block.

  9. Create free, beautiful landing pages that make it easy to highlight your products, promote a sale or giveaway, and grow your list. (New!)

Add customers automatically to MailChimp

During the checkout process, Shopify asks your customers if they’re interested in receiving marketing information from your store. When a customer completes an order and agrees, MailChimp for Shopify will automatically subscribe them to your MailChimp list.

Target email campaigns based on buying behavior

MailChimp for Shopify will also relay e-commerce data to your MailChimp account, allowing you to target email campaigns based on your customers' buying behavior. Tell them about special offers and promotions, or send product recommendations to customers based on their purchases.

By enabling e-commerce link tracking on your email campaigns, MailChimp for Shopify will pick up on sales generated by your campaigns. Your campaign reports in MailChimp will contain detailed information to help you measure the ROI of your campaigns and help you optimize your email marketing strategy.

Automate email campaigns

MailChimp's powerful marketing automation tools, now available to free accounts, make it easy to reach your customers and deliver the right content at the right time. When you connect your Shopify store, you can use one of our preset automation workflows to automatically send abandoned cart messages encouraging shoppers to complete their purchase, follow up with your customers that visited your site with retargeting emails, re-engage inactive customers with incentives and relevant product recommendations, or reach out to customers after they buy an item from your store.

Send content that matters with personalization tools

Using MailChimp's advanced segmentation tools, you can target automated campaigns based on e-commerce data, geolocation, and more.

Deliver personalized product recommendations to each customer based on their purchase history, advertise your store’s upcoming promotions, and reward your best customers. After sending, monitor MailChimp’s robust campaign reports to measure ROI, see what’s working, and learn how you can get better.

Build Ads in MailChimp

Combine your email marketing with MailChimp’s advertising channels to create an integrated campaign that reaches every audience. Find new customers, connect with current ones, and drive them all to your website with Facebook and Instagram ads. Then, set up Google remarketing ads to turn your site visitors into shoppers. And MailChimp’s reporting tools let you see how much money your ads are making, the number of first-time buyers acquired, ROI, products sold, and more.

very good app works perfectly for us, no issues as of yet

MailChimp is the easiest & user friendly edm/data system out there!
So intuitive and no need for complicated when you have a business to run.
It ticks all the boxes! Thanks MailChimp!

Great app worked great for our website www.talkingoutofturn.com

The pop up form would never sync the Shopify customer list with the Master List in MailChimp even after following extra processes for adding a blue button for customers to check for opting in. (Which ended up on a New Account page instead of the Pop up form).

So much better than constant contact. I have been using this for years just never got a chance to write a review.

Been using MailChimp forever and its on all my sites. Sign up for my loyalty program at my new website https://MajorLeaguePets.com

Great app, we use it for Hodinsky and it makes email marketing a breeze!

Great app that helps recommend email automation sequences. We would highly recommend this app!

Mailchimp is a great platform. I've used it for many clients and we use it for our stores. I just don't think it is quite up to par as a powerful marketing tool for eCommerce. The main problem is a big one: Mailchimp will not update the "Accepts Marketing" status for a customer in Shopify so it is not a true "Sync". The reason this is so important is that knowing accurately if a customer "Accepts Marketing" allows you to do things on the Shopify side for that customer. It allows you to setup a loyalty or rewards program without spending $600 per month on a separate app. It allows you to offer discounts to those customers for being a loyal subscriber. It allows you to target those who do NOT accept marketing or have unsubscribed and attempt to get them back on your list. Without Mailchimp updating the "Accepts Marketing" status for a customer, none of that is possible and really handicaps the more dynamic shops out there. Especially Shopify plus customers who can use that data for Flows and Scripts.

I've spoken with Mailchimp on two occasions and while support is friendly, they're not really able to affect any change in this area.

The API endpoint is there. And the Mailchimp app already asks for enough permissions to be able to push this data back to Shopify when you install the app. So all that is left to be done is for Mailchimp to implement on their end. Fingers crossed that this will happen soon.

Other issues:

You can't target emails based on collection. The "Category" field in Mailchimp is mapped to vendors for some reason.

You can't add a product block to an email based on collection. You have to add all products individually. There is also no option to display the "Compare at" price anywhere in these blocks, so to show a discount you have to do it manually for every product you add.

Templates are easy however it seems that none of the tutorials really explained how to set it up! It is actually really difficult to connect this app to your website.
