This app has one major flaw - it unsubscribes your most engaged followers when they purchase from your store, unless they re-tick your receive emails button. They are aware of this and don't see it as a big issue, however it requires a lot of admin to manually undo it.
Thanks for getting in touch about the association between pop-up form subscribers and customers who are being unsubscribed at checkout later - there are a few things in play here. Let me take the opportunity to explain the issue in its entirety.
As things are designed currently, the pop-up form is triggered by Mailchimp, and the opt-in feature at checkout of your Shopify store function independently from one another. The pop-up form is triggered by Mailchimp and associates it with a particular Audience. Meanwhile, your Shopify store connects customers at checkout with the same MailChimp Audience.
Unfortunately, in some situations, it can create a subscriber status that is out of alignment. For example, if someone opts-in to a pop-up form initially, but later they do not opt-in at checkout, it would indeed unsubscribe them from Mailchimp.
We understand how this situation may not be ideal in all cases, but, we're following the directives of the customer at checkout. Since we are not seeing them subscribed in Shopify at the time of the transaction, we really have no other choice but to pass that user as unsubscribed to Mailchimp.
I'm sorry we don't have a perfect answer for this particular scenario, but please understand it's not the app entirely at fault here. Perhaps, a workaround for these edge-cases would be to put some text on the checkout page to encourage users to opt-in for certain communications?
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have additional or follow-up questions.
really cool my audience on mailchimp grow every day and sales too :) i can take easyly care of my new subscribers in shopify on mailchimp soooocoooll
Super bummed about MailChimp & Shopify parting ways, but ShopSync came to the rescue. We have a lot of data, so it was a bit slow, but I'm not complaining. Working like a dream. Thanks
2000 free subscribers now down to 500. You're now charging more then $40 CAN for what used to be a free service. How are small businesses suppose to survive?
UPDATED REVIEW: App works ok.
----------------------------
Over 2 days, I've tried 3 times to sync our rather small store with SmartSync and it stalls out every time.
After further investigation into this issue, we've found that the app store had an unusual redirect method to our installation page that needed to be corrected. This problem appeared for a small subset of users, but we understand how frustrating this behavior can be if you were one of them. We've worked with Shopify to resolve this problem and it should be fixed now.
Would you care to update your review if you're able to connect and use ShopSync?
Very simple and quick integration, I was pleasantly surprised. I will be sending out a newsletter in a couple of weeks so will be keen to see how that goes. The pausing/restarting of my abandoned cart email series worked perfectly and has been functioning as expected - thanks guys!
I thought my installation was done with Mailchimp since Mailchimp dissapeared from Shopify, but I just click on the ShopSync app and shows it is not connected. A message with "Temporary Installation Cookie Must Be Set
Your browser is preventing the installation of ShopSync. A temporary cookie must be set by clicking here." comes up, but after clicking and refreshing nothing happens and the app still does not work. Please help
UPDATE: The problem was solved and it was indeed related to the browser. Thank you!
Hi Stona, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like your issue may be related to a browser caching issue or just a temporary problem with Shopify's app store. We'd suggest clearing your cookies/cache or trying another browser entirely.
If the problem persists, don't hesitate to contact us for further troubleshooting at support@shopsync.io.
This works but the Merge fields aren't showing for me and when a customer signs up to our newsletter it takes about 5-10 minutes to send to Mailchimp and sometimes doesn't send at all even though in their knowledge base it says real time sync.
Only using the app because the Mailchimp platform is so great.
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and wanted to drop a note on the syncing times. We rely on Shopify to send us webhooks for any kind of update on customers, products, and orders. Depending on the volume on Shopify's infrastructure at that specific point in time, webhooks may have been delayed. Normally, transfer times are close to real-time to Mailchimp.
Ultimately, data is not lost if there is a backlog of information to process, it just may take a few minutes to go through if the queues are backed up. We'll update our documentation to reflect this possibility, thanks again for the feedback.
Email marketing templates or from scratch features not as flexible as we would like.
Thank you for the review! Can you email mc-ecommappsupport@intuit.com with additional details? We'd like to get more info on your feedback.
