Merges is honestly a great utility app, but I can't give it 5 stars until the AI content is improved. The AI-generated title and description are just too useless on my products, most of which is safety gear with important specifications. It completely rewrites my titles instead of just removing color or other variant-specific info from the title. The automatic description was also not useful for me. Personally I'd design the AI interface similar to Shopify's to give a suggestion with a before/after, accept/decline preview, instead of just an on/off setting.

The product merging function is great otherwise. The ability to merge collections would be a very nice addition.

I look forward to updates. It's a handy app.

Update: January 25, 2026: We've shipped a major update to our title and description engine that addresses your concerns. The AI now behaves differently - it preserves product specifications rather than rewriting titles entirely.

Would be glad to hear if this works better for your safety gear catalog.

I completely understand your concern with the AI rewriting safety specifications. For safety gear, technical accuracy is non-negotiable.

Some context: the AI is designed to strip variant-specific info (like colors/sizes) to create a valid "parent" description. However, we have a solution for this - our system allows us to configure Custom Instructions specifically for your shop to tell the AI exactly what to preserve (like ANSI standards and safety specs) and what to ignore.

I've reached out via email to set this up for you. (In the meantime, you can toggle the AI rewriting off entirely in Settings.)

Your suggestions for a before/after preview interface and Collection merging are both on our roadmap now.

This app saved me a ton of time and was easy to use. When we integrated our old POS to Shopify, every product was set as an individual page, which would have been fine if we were only doing in store sales. Now that we've branched out online, we had to merge all of the products into collections to make the webpage cleaner and user friendly. Merges saved me days of having to go back and compile all the info myself. All you have to do is select your products you want to merge and the app does all the hard work of carrying over variants, barcodes, pricing, categories, photos, creating a description of the product and more... I highly recommend if you want to compress a bunch of products and save days in time.
