**Update: Following this review, we received a legal threat rather than a resolution. We stand by the facts below.

When Shopify made changes in early 2025, our opt-in rate dropped to near zero and we continued to be billed for approximately 10 months. When we raised the concern over the changes, the team pointed to a February 2025 email as proof of notification. That email stated the app would be uninstalled if the required changes weren't made by February 18, 2025, which would have stopped billing. The app was not uninstalled. We were not notified it would remain active and billable. We continued to be charged for a service that was no longer functioning as configured.
No refund or partial credit has been offered. Sharing this so other merchants know to monitor their opt-in rates and billing closely after any platform changes.

Original review: Unfortunately, this has not been a good experience. Over a year ago, shopify made a change that prevented the app from working how we set it up and virtually no orders since then included the shipping protection while we were continually billed until we finally noticed. The app claims to have sent emails that we have not received and chooses to refuse a refund even though we haven't effectively been using the app for over a year. It's disappointing to encounter such unethical business practices and I would sincerely caution anyone who is considering working with them.

I hate nothing more than publicly litigating a disagreement. The reality is, merchants sometimes know that leaving a 1 star review will hurt devs and they sadly use it to try and get their way even if it is unreasonable.

Yes, you got charged for our app until you uninstalled it. This is common practice. We can’t control which merchants use our app, which don’t, and we don’t make more money if you use it and make thousands. In fact, you got charged the same amount each month even when your opt in rate was really high and pulling in 100x the app fee.

Every merchant on Navidium costs us actual money. Our servers still run even if your optin switch is off. If you rent a car and park it outside you can’t claim a refund saying “I didn’t use the car.”

We rely on our merchants to notify us if they need support and usually they can see within a day or two if orders keep coming in without protection, and then they reach out.

Despite all that, as an exception and a way of trying to go above and beyond, we reached out multiple times to find a way to solve this for you. We never heard back.

We still decided to go above and beyond, and refunded you in full, and sent a few emails following up with you about those refunds. Sadly, those went unanswered as well.

Hopefully this does resolve this issue, and we simply wish we could have avoided this with smoother direct communication.

We’ve been using Navidium since they create the app I believe and it’s been excellent. After trying other shipping protection apps, this one has been the best fit for our business. I really appreciate that it lets us take care of our customers directly instead of pushing them into a third-party claims process.

We moved over from a third-party shipping protection provider and have been really happy with the switch. Navidium gives us more control over the customer experience, and everything feels much more aligned with how we want to support our customers. The team has also been super responsive whenever we’ve needed anything.

Easy to use, the team is very responsive. Plus you have more control - you keep more fees and decide how to manage claims. It's worked well for us. Doesn't interfere with checkout software and product listings the way some of their competitors did. . .

Navidium and the team are exceptional. We have used the software going on 5 years now and they continue to create seamless upgrades. If there is ever an issue when we are implementing a new theme they are quick to resolve it. Insurance is a very important aspect when we ship products. While there are other similar software options, Navidium is the most affordable and reliable. Its robust support system gives us peace of mind.

Fantastic app! I've been using this app for at least 2 years and the majority of my customers choose to use it. Installation was effortless as they take care of everything and when Shopify made some changes that would affect Navidium they were proactive and took care of everything quickly to make sure it continued to work seamlessly. Highly recommended.

Easy to install. I had a few problems due to my ignorance. They responded quickly and solved it for me. Customers enjoy the option and also gives me a lot more flexibility than the other insurance options I have used. The others cost me money, this one helps me.

We’ve been using Navidium since 2024, and it’s been a great addition to our stack.

It’s super easy to set up, and the biggest win for us is being able to manage our own shipping protection instead of relying on third parties. Keeping that revenue in-house while resolving claims quickly has made a real difference both operationally and financially.

The customization options are also a big plus—we were able to match everything to our brand and control how it appears in the cart/checkout.

Overall, it just works. If you want more control over shipping protection and a smoother post-purchase experience, definitely worth trying.
