Numeral Sales Tax

Sales tax is hard. People think its some simple process to automate, but in reality, there are a lot of required phone calls with states, issues that take a long time to resolve, and yeah, its just quite a mess in the US.

Numeral does a pretty good job trying to tackle it, but they are not perfect. They are in our Slack so communication is fast, so thats great.

Me recommendation: If you have a clean sales tax history and want to move to Numeral, you are in pretty good shape, go for it.

If you have a long history of backfilling issues, I think its best to use a dedicated person. Its extremely time intensive to do back fillings and clean it up. Numeral did do it for me, but it required a ton of my time personally.

No matter what you do, when switching to and new sales tax provider, you need to first make sure you personally can login to all the state portals, check if all the info like emails and addresses are correct, get all the passwords in a sheet, and hand it off to the provider in a clean way. Otherwise its going to be a horrible experience for everyone. Get organized! Sales tax is hard.

Numeral is truly the best of the best for sales tax filing and compliance, especially if you want your sales tax automated in a buttery-clean interface, backed by a team that’s responsive, helpful, and genuinely takes the stress off your plate. It gives us confidence that our sales tax filings are being handled properly.

Numeral is a scam. I signed up in August to find out in January of this year that they had not filed my taxes even for the state I reside in for over 4 months.

They will bill you large amounts to "file," but when my CPA looked into it when reconciling EOY it turns out that they had not filed anything for months. They also could not provide me with any reporting log of what they did with account confirmations.

Honestly, Numeral should not be allowed to be an app on the Shopify app store at this point.

Numeral has SO simplified our sales tax compliance. The service is extremely valuable. Their support in getting set up was top notch. . . All support people speak English as their primary language and were very willing to get on the phone or zoom and handle everything they could with as little involvement from us as possible. I can't recommend Numeral strongly enough.

I've been using Numerals for a couple of years now. It has been a huge relief on state tax filings. They take care of everything which gives me more time to work on the actual business itself. If you're pushing numbers on Shopify, I highly recommend using Numerals to stay compliant with each state.

Numeral made managing sales tax easy, and dare I say, delightful! After using a well-known sales tax market leading service for a couple of years and experiencing never-ending issues and nonexistant customer service, I switched to Numeral. They walked us through setup, making sure we had all of our sales channels connected, and are prompt and kind when we have any questions or issues. Highly recommend!

We just onboarded with Numeral and have had a great experience so far. They were very proactive in setting everything up correctly and we're excited to have sales tax compliance fully off our plate. The team was responsive throughout the process and made what's usually a painful transition feel seamless (I've onboarded 2 different platforms in the past that have been much more difficult to work with).

Do not let them set up your state sales tax information and please file this manually yourself. Once you leave, they have your login information and never email you back. It's been 3 weeks of me emailing their support with no reply.
