Garbage app and misleading details.
App seems to be working perfectly. We have had no end of problems with customers using our free UK shipping option despite not being located in the mainland UK. But thanks to this app we have been able to exclude these areas and we have been able to offer a discount for orders over a certain amount, which previously we could only do for mainland UK orders.
Customer support is also excellent, most replies were within a few hours, sometimes even quicker. Our personal experience was with Patrick who was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
I give one star for now because this only works in advance plans while I really need something to help me for shipping and shopify support told me this is free. Yes it is but.............!
That is not entirely accurate, though we share your frustration.
For Parcelify to work we need the details of the order, those details get shared through the Carrier Service API. Without that we don't get the details of the order and can't calculate rates.
There are 3 ways to get the Carrier Service API:
1) Advanced Plan- The Carrier API is included by default.
2) If you change your billing on your plan to annual billing you get access to the Carrier Service API
3) You can pay for it directly to Shopify.

We too wish it was available by default to all merchants regardless of their plan. :(
8/31/2018 Update: It looks like the original developer sold the app and now Parcelify is a paid app (it used to be free). We previously gave this 5 stars because it was a free app and it performed the intended function well. Now that it is a paid app though it should have a much easier to use interface. Setting up rules is complicated and time consuming. There are certain things that are trivial but add up; they price things in cents instead of dollars, you have to use certain keyboard symbols for and/or etc. They don't have a way to easily exclude US territories etc. It's a good app, but if they want customers to pay for it they should really consider updating the user interface.
Original Review: The standard Shopify shipping options are an absolute joke. This app certainly has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it the power of it is incredible. We are now able to offer all sorts of different shipping options since we can assign them at the SKU level, which is bringing us significantly more profit.
You do need carrier calculated shipping to use the app (it's not an app issue, it's a Shopify restriction) which is only available on the Shopify Advanced plan. After some research you can call Shopify and ask for this feature and they will turn it on for $20/MO (you have to call though, this isn't advertised anywhere). If you switch your billing to annual they will also turn this feature on for free (you just call in and ask them to turn it on).
Side Note: Shopify includes territories that are not states (Puerto Rico, Guam, Armed Forces Americas, Virgin Islands etc.) in the United States dropdown… so the US rates you setup will default to including those territories. Be sure to exclude them as states in Parcelify if you don't want your USA rates to pull to those territories.
Excelent free app!. The only thing missing for me is the possibility to restrict the shipping rate to the number of items on a given cart.
I'm a super satisfied new user not only because the app does an excellent job (with already over 23 shipping rates active from the start, each featuring several conditions) but also because of Alex remarkable effectiveness and kindness to support me along the start-up process through a ping-pong of messages exchanged at lightning speed despite the tough & busy time we're all going through due to Coronavirus. We have tested other well-known apps and couldn't manage to set up those complex rules (combining price constraints, product constraints and even geo-location donw to the ZIP code constraints) we had to implement.
So simple, yet so powerful!
Support has been awesome and even provided some new features in no time.
Wish I had discovered this app sooner! It has allowed me to offer more shipping options and fine tune them. If you are on the basic shopify plan, if you pay yearly you can get the Carrier API for free without having to upgrade to another plan.
The apps is real easy to use and implement. Literally took 3 minutes. And thanks for making it so affordable.
After adding a bunch of countries to Rest of World shipping zone, most of them disappear, although I continuously save it! Hope that it will not happen again. However, compared to Shopify's, this app really knows what shipping rules mean and should be.
