Pricing and Transparency Issues
Initially, I was drawn to the app for its promising features and signed up for the Advanced plan at $199 per month, along with an additional feature called "smart review" for $9. However, the first red flag was the payment confirmation, which totaled an unexpected $247. This discrepancy was not explained upfront and was only clarified after a prolonged wait for customer support response.
The support team explained that the pricing for "smart review" and other features was based on the "number of order values" over the past 12 months—a critical piece of information that was not disclosed on the app store page. They did provide a link to calculate these additional charges, but this lack of transparency from the start is a significant concern.
Disheartened, I decided to downgrade to the Growth plan, which was advertised at $89. Yet again, I was faced with a surprising charge of $137 upon confirmation. This continued lack of clear, upfront pricing information is troubling and suggests a pattern that could mislead other users.
Integration Woes
Another major issue I encountered was with integrations. The app advertised compatibility with other popular tools like smile.io. However, it turns out that connecting these services requires not just the Advanced plan but also a Plus subscription costing $999 per month for manual API integration. This critical detail was omitted from the feature descriptions, adding another layer of unexpected expense and complexity.
Conclusion: Beware of Hidden Costs
Based on my experience, this app suffers from serious issues with transparency and customer communication. The hidden costs and misleading feature descriptions have not only caused financial strain but also wasted time and added frustration.
For other Shopify store owners considering this app, I advise caution. Ensure you understand all potential costs and confirm details with customer support before committing. What I encountered could be described as misleading at best and deceptive at worst. It's crucial to approach such apps with skepticism and to conduct thorough research to avoid similar pitfalls.
UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE:
I'm not suggesting you're dishonest, but it seems there might be some discrepancies in what's being presented. Not once is it mentioned, either on the Shopify App Store or on your website, that your app is related to revenues. The only feature listed is an import limit. This not only breaches Shopify's Terms and Conditions but could also be considered fraudulent. Your lengthy reply, filled with questionable remarks, suggests that this might be intentional. I'm surprised Shopify hasn't shut down the app yet. I hope they will take action soon. In the meantime, I urge everyone to review the app's page, take screenshots, and be cautious of any hidden costs.

We sincerely apologise for any confusion or frustration caused by any costs you encountered.
We're actively investigating this and we have actually found that based on your revenue over the last month you should have been charged $299 p/m for Smart Reviews and $199 for the plan. The $9 is the starting price of Smart Reviews and is for merchants who have not exceeded more than $50,000 in the last 12 months. although we have a detailed "how is this price calculated" section in-app, this should have been explained to you by our support team so we are very sorry for that.
This also doesn't explain why it seems that you have been undercharged by $251 p/m. This may indeed be a data issue on our end which we are investigating.
That being said, with plans like these we always recommend onboarding so that we can make sure you get exactly the features you want at a price that is comfortable for you. We have success managers who are here to walk you through the process 1 to 1 on calls which you were offered.
We think that you can still get immense value out of Opinew and would be happy to discuss how it can work for you should with an extended trial offer so that you can use the app correctly if you wish, we can also provide you with a dedicated success manager to make the onboarding process smoother we do this in the hope that you have all the correct information to write a review on Opinew.
Regarding Smile.io's integration, unfortunately, that is nothing we can do on our side as the $999 Plus plan you refer to is a Smile.io plan and nothing we can control! The integration is available on our end from the Advanced plan ($199), but you will also need to have the correct plan on Smile.io in order for it to work.
Disaster app and disaster customer service. Since I'm discontinuing the free version of shopify in May, I thought I'd switch to Opinew. Unfortunately it hasn't worked for weeks now, with customer service always promising to fix the problem. Nothing happens. I would not recommend this app to anyone.
Was great then unfortunately became very hard to use.

Poor communication never worked after I subscribed stay away ... worse review company and definitely do not recommend
Hi - Sorry about your not ideal expierience. We have asked the you to contact our support team via the handy live chat button inside the app, where we are ready to reply usually in 5min, 7 days a week, but you haven't contacted us.
Using the live chat will always ensure quick support service vs email which is not so frequently monitored.

An application that might make you crazy, even though I downloaded an application, it asked me to choose a paid plan and when I remove it continues to put empty stars in every product you have to delete everything and this makes you crazy A failed application My rating has zero stars
Hi - Sorry about this - It's purely Shopify's fault that they don't let us developers remove the code when you uninstall. It's been a problem for years now. It's drives us crazy too!

Don't be fooled by 4.9 stars. The app is really horrible, I wish I could give zero star. It messed up all my reviews. The export excel file is like shit, all my reviews are all messed up. Not able to recover back... Plus, the reviews imported by this app was not able to export out, beware! Sometimes it won't be able to import reviews too. The support also very bad. Each time you have to wait at least half an hour...The support also not friendly to speak to...It is the worst app I ever encounter, not worth a cent..
Sorry you had a bad experience. However in the 2 months you used our app, you contacted us 8 times and we helped you with the setup, all sorts of small adjustments, any queries related to how the app works. You were a very demanding customer, on the cheapest plan, but still got the full 7 days a week support, with replies within 30min or quicker.
After looking at the transcripts, support was always in a professional manner - can you please send me an example to support@opinew.com where you think it was rude or inappropriate? Maybe I have missed something?
Regarding exports - all the organic reviews can be exported, imported ones cannot. You need to find another importer tool to import those. That's to prevent people from importing via Opinew and then going to a free app with all the reviews. It's just fair IMHO.
Don't bother with this app, review sometimes don't add. And when you try and delete the app, it doesn't fully remove itself! You've been warned!!!!!!!!

This is actually a problem with Shopify. They don't let us remove the code when you click uninstall in the app menu. You need to click the uninstall from inside the actual app and it will all be gone :)
The support is good. But, the app will ruin your store. The app will block your sales. After you uninstalled it. It will leave your store a code that has 0 star reviews.
Hi, we reached out in multiple ways to try to support your issue that was caused by another app and not by Opinew, unfortunately in this case you reached out to Shopify support for clarity and they gave you some terrible misinformation claiming that Opinew was causing the issue when it wasn't!
We have screenshots from yourself to the Shopify support agent which shows the lack of product knowledge from that support agent. Here is a summary of the conversation:
Danielle (Shopify Support Agent): "Opinew is also for retargeting, when did you activate this is seems like they are not properly cascading the abandoned checkout emails"
Your response: "I installed it Thursday same as Reputon eBay importer."
Danielle: "Okay no worries will have to contact the app developer directly to rectify the emails for the abandoned checkout"
This is false. Opinew isn't for retargeting nor does the core app have anything to do with abandoned checkout emails. Opinew had no code on your checkout page so it was impossible that it was causing your errors. It's worth noting that we never received communication from Shopify about this case.
Of course this was escalated to Shopify Partner support immediately for giving you false information. The service we subsequently received as a business from Shopify was unacceptable. Although the agent understood the situation and admitted how frustrating it must be. He confirmed that Shopify would not be issuing an apology to you as the merchant or us as the app. This is frustrating on many levels as it has left us with a loss of a valued customer, an unwarranted 1-star review and also left you with an unsolved issue not caused by Opinew.
We are sorry this has been a negative experience for you. We did our best to get Shopify to reach out to you with proof and with help to rectify their mistake. It's a shame their service to both you and us was so poor. We wish you the best for the future.
