Shopify has very basic and infexible collection sorting rules so to overcome this limitation we used to use 3rd party software power to render collections and site search on our website. This was expensive and always felt needlessly complex. It also added unnessariy load time to collection pages and was just another thing that could break.

When I discovered BestSellers ReSort I realised we could combine it with Shopify's new native Search & Discover App and achieve 80% of what the fancy enterprise software does at a fraction of the cost. And it was all using native shopify so it was faster and much more intuitive for my team to use.

We use this app not only for daily re-sorting, whereby new and specifically tagged products are sorted to the top and sold-out and unpopular products are pushed to the bottom, but also for the intelligent tagging of products that are e.g. topsellers, trending or almost sold out in order to generate suitable product labels. The merchandising sorting rules are extremely helpful in organizing larger collections and scheduling featured products. My biggest issue is there is very limited reporting options. There is an app performance report, but it is only available every 30 days. That is not helpful in analyzing the store's merchandising performance and the app's ROI.
