As my 3rd return platform launch in 3 years, I have become very familiar with the return platform market. AfterShip has been the best thus far. Our system configuration presents a particular set of challenges with integration. AfterShip did their best to create a perfect solution for us, but unfortunately it did not end up working out. Now, there is still a manual step which we must complete but does not affect overall functionality of the return platform.
The features offered by AfterShip are robust and provide a lot of good options for the customers while staying affordable. AfterShip is very receptive to feedback and is constantly trying to improve based on their customer response. There are no hidden fees and support is always very kind and helpful. A lot of bigger return companies charge 3x as much for the same. I was also able to test functionality without being locked into any contracts.
Overall, we have been happy with AfterShip and I would recommend giving them a try!

The developers reached out to me after this review to offer their support and apologize for the unhelpful responses I was getting. Since then, I have processed 10+ returns using their app and it has worked well. There are some feature changes I would like to see before I consider it a "5 star" app, but it's certainly functional and does it's core function very well.
I am updating this review to 4/5 stars and would gladly give it 5 if return shipments were easier to track (and had email alerts!!). It currently takes several page refreshes to see a shipping status from USPS and that's just not acceptable. There's nothing worse than a customer sending their return and it just sitting there without the shop owner getting alerted.

So far the interface seems good but I'll only know later down the road when my store starts getting returns. This 2 star review is strictly due to the poor AfterShip customer support.
After I set up my account with aftership, I needed to go back in and change the return address (where my customers send their product back to) but I couldn't figure out how to go back and change this in the settings. I shot an email to AfterShip support and they kept copy/pasting the same response in their reply. "Hello, Please contact courier or shipper directly. AfterShip is only a shipment tracking platform. Here are some useful articles for you." And just so you guys know, I was very detailed in my emails about being the owner of a shopify store and even sent the emails from my support@ email address.
I eventually figured out how to change the address myself, but I wasted a whole week waiting for an actual response (that never came). Just the same copy/paste that had nothing to do with my question.
Hopefully everything works well once returns start coming in because this joke of a support will definitely not be there to help.
I really like AfterShip Returns... with the new update of 10/2019 it has improved a lot! New multilingual features and a new simple look...
Attention however, on the site is written "All features included" on all plans, while in the setting Language the multilingual is given only for higher tariff plans... not good!!
When it's working it works, but unfortunately, I have had several issues. Fortunately, there is always someone available to chat and assist you if you need help. They are very quick to respond and have graciously helped me resolve some major issues I was having with the Postmen account. Hard to set up! Have to download several apps to get it all working together and instructions are vague.

Very easy to use and makes the best impression of the ones we tested. Happy so far. Would be very helpful to have Swedish language added.
Customer service is awesome! I also like that this app takes away a lot of the back and forth correspondence involved with normal returns. It saves you time. A future standard (instead of premium) feature, if possible, would be that AfterShip Returns would add a returned item back to inventory via it's shopify integration. Right now after resolving a ticket, you have to manually go and issue the refund and add the product return back into inventory. This seems like a standard feature, not a premium. I'd also like to have the premium feature of customers getting to manually exchange for in stock items of their choice during the return process. Right now it's also a premium feature. As a small brand, I just can't afford so many apps at premium tier.

If you have a Shopify Plus account then you can use the Gift card option to issue a refund.
We do keep track of the requests by our users and we will make it more feasible.
