I've been using the app for 6 months. It has an issue where you can attempt to bundle an existing product and can't save it simply because the title contains a slash, which Shopify allows -- for some reason Bundles doesn't. I was told it should be fixed as validation rules should align. No luck so far. Very frustrating.
The app works as it should but it has it´s flaws.
1 The app makes it possible bundle prododucts but unfortunately the size of the bundle is presented with the product name followed by "(Quantity)" which of course is utterly confusing - since it refers to the quantity per bundle NOT the quantity of bundles to order.
Naturally wording should be "(Qty/pack)" etc...
2 If you, as I had, need convert all products from standard to Bundle products there is no way to transfer data over - and there is no batch handling of data - very time consuming.
When there is personalization at Bundle level like "Name', it cannot be seen on Shopify Mobilke application.
Love the app. It works for our business just fine and it does what's intended to do. BUT it has one major drawback that needs to be fixed asap.
For a bundle to be discounted without a discount code, we use the "Compare at" field in the bundle itself. To discount a product with this setting the original price must be lower than the compare price — in the case of the bundle that means rewriting the original dynamic price for the bundle.
The problem is once the sale is over, the dynamic bundle price no longer works, and now we have one more product that needs to be constantly supervised for price changes when the individual products in the bundle change price. This is easily solvable with a few lines of code.
We'll be happy to help the team solve this one out.
You can add up to 30 products but only 3 with options seems very random? I am having to consider getting another app because of this limitation
Hi Zone3, thank you for your feedback. We recently shipped an improvement to allow repeat bundle options such as size and color to be combined (https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/combine-repeat-bundle-options). Combining bundle options frees up additional options. Please take a look at the feature. We would love to hear your feedback on whether this improves the first issue you mentioned.
Thanks,
Shopify
It is fine for basic use if you have less than about 35 bundles. They really need to add a feature for updating the price when a constituent product price changes. If you have a small store and are starting out, it will work. Also noticing every 2-3 months some bundles are randomly set to draft, so you have to check often.
Bundles work great, when it works. Some update on Shopify's side broke the ability for a bundled product to work with both MetaFields and MetaObject driven pages/themes. Our use case is that we offer a product quiz to customers, which selects a specific product and size (but color doesn't matter). Bundles allow us to pre-select the size for customers, and we place that bundled product on a custom page. If your web page (where you embed the product) is driven from a metaobject or metafields link to the product, it won't work (shows out of stock, glitches). If you embed the product in the theme it works, but it means you need one theme per page/product (negates the benefits of metaobjects/fields). We escalated to support, but they kept blaming our customizations -- even though we're using the out of the box 'meta' features of Shopify. We're using Dawn btw.
Thank you for your review. I've reached out via email to request more information so that we can provide support with your issue.
Kind Regards,
Shopify Bundles Team
A bundle app built into Shopify is a great first step -- but this app is incredibly limited. Doesn't really replace any of the paid apps we need because what it does is so narrowly focused. I've been using it for a year now and am disappointed that more useful functionality doesn't exist for Product Add-ons, upsells, cross sells, etc.
The only thing we really use this for is to create bundles with a SKU that we can sync to Amazon. Otherwise Multipacks sold on Amazon would completely break our inventory count, and essentially showed that the Shopify inventory system was functionally broken. This app fixed that issue, but still leaves us paying for several other Bundle and Upsell apps monthly that offer full-featured bundle functionality.
Thank you for your review. We are working on adding more support for additional selling strategies and will reach out when some of the features you requested are supported.
Kind Regards,
Shopify Bundles Team
The app works pretty well, but has a glaring shortcoming that makes its usefulness limited. There is no way to automatically display the included products on a bundle product page. You have to manually show what is included. This seems like it should be basic functionality--to tell people what they are buying.
