A bundle app built into Shopify is a great first step -- but this app is incredibly limited. Doesn't really replace any of the paid apps we need because what it does is so narrowly focused. I've been using it for a year now and am disappointed that more useful functionality doesn't exist for Product Add-ons, upsells, cross sells, etc.
The only thing we really use this for is to create bundles with a SKU that we can sync to Amazon. Otherwise Multipacks sold on Amazon would completely break our inventory count, and essentially showed that the Shopify inventory system was functionally broken. This app fixed that issue, but still leaves us paying for several other Bundle and Upsell apps monthly that offer full-featured bundle functionality.
Bundles work great, when it works. Some update on Shopify's side broke the ability for a bundled product to work with both MetaFields and MetaObject driven pages/themes. Our use case is that we offer a product quiz to customers, which selects a specific product and size (but color doesn't matter). Bundles allow us to pre-select the size for customers, and we place that bundled product on a custom page. If your web page (where you embed the product) is driven from a metaobject or metafields link to the product, it won't work (shows out of stock, glitches). If you embed the product in the theme it works, but it means you need one theme per page/product (negates the benefits of metaobjects/fields). We escalated to support, but they kept blaming our customizations -- even though we're using the out of the box 'meta' features of Shopify. We're using Dawn btw.
Thank you for your review. I've reached out via email to request more information so that we can provide support with your issue.
Kind Regards,
Shopify Bundles Team
When you create a bundle, it sets the price based on the chosen products.
There needs to be a feature for when an underlying product has their price changed, the bundle can also be updated with a one click button, or a toggle to allow this. Having to manually update pricing for these is incredibly cumbersome.
It works, but has less flexibility than the same feature in 40-year-old POS systems. Hoping for more options and features in the future. Would love to see:
- a toggle for whether or not to reveal the parts of a bundle to the customer
- support for more sales channels
- auto calculation for cost and weight based on bundle components
- support for add-on products
The app is easy to use, it's really frustrating that you can't share bundles on other sales channels though. Also your order confirmation and thank you emails all include the items (and their prices) individually, rather than as a bundle.
Like other's have said, this is a great app if you're needing simple bundles. However, there are a couple of glaring shortcomings that make it less convenient to use. Firstly, if you make bundles with this app they are not eligible to be sold in the Buy Button channel. Additionally, I have not figured out (if it's possible) how to use a product in more than one bundle.
The app definitely has potential BUT it needs to allow for infinite variations and options. Most bundles will accumulate many variations due to size, color and style.
Please add unlimited variations or at least a way to merge the same variation on all products bundled (example: select one color for all 3 products, or select same size for all 3 products) and this will automatically reduce the amount of variations. Thanks!
The app works pretty well, but has a glaring shortcoming that makes its usefulness limited. There is no way to automatically display the included products on a bundle product page. You have to manually show what is included. This seems like it should be basic functionality--to tell people what they are buying.
Trying out Shopify Bundles with Dawn 15.2.0. The app generally does what it claims to do, however, with at least one key issue.
The product page for the bundle doesn't reveal what's included in the bundle. Is this possibly a Dawn theme oversight? Adding the bundle to the cart also doesn't show the bundled products. It's only until you checkout that the buyer sees the individual products included in the bundle.
This seems pretty odd, given that a user would want to know, up front, what products are in the bundle. Of course, I can manually create a bullet listing of the products in the bundle description, but that is onerous and doesn't scale. In addition, a static bullet list can easily become stale/inaccurate if the product mix in the bundle is changed.
From my testing, one way to show the products contained in the bundle, on the product page, is if each product has 2+ variants. But, my products don't have any variants, so the included products don't show up.
