There is zero support to customize invoices and no simple transfer. Support will forward you to the help documents (that you have probably already read) that do not make it easy on someone who has no real coding experience. When you press support for further help, they will forward you to a Shopify service that you'll need to pay for.
The least they can do is create a library of functional templates for their customers. However, it doesn't seem like too much to ask for a template builder.
Maybe they should consider fully flushing out their apps before launch? They have done another half-attempt at an app we tried --for subscriptions. Why waste the effort making a terrible product?
Thank you for your feedback! This app is intended to offer better performance than the previous version, so we want to make sure it works well for your business. I'm happy to share your thoughts with our developers for consideration in future updates. -Sophia, Shopify Support
Broken. Wouldn't migrate our custom template and is producing erroneous results showing additional items not on order?!
Hi. In order to assist with your template migration, please review our documentation here: https://shopify.link/18NL.You can also get in touch with our team through live chat here: https://shopify.link/YWD7. -Mac, Shopify Support
Sick and tired that they keep changing the software without consideration of the customer's needs! Just leave as it was! I should not get another app to get your app to work! Our POS receipts are all over the place and not as before! So frustrating! :-(
Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we truly appreciate it. As I can completely understand the impact of this change, I've gone ahead and shared your feedback with our developers. POOR Product rollout! Programming experience over 30 years and took me a day and a half to re configure the template we use. The Shopify Help Center documentation is inconstant: 'weight' variable' to be changed to 'grams' for some reason, then farther down is says change 'grams' to 'weight' . Proofing and ask the question 'WHY' do we need to change the variable name seems to be a needed thing. Also, WHY would you put pricing on the shipper template?
Also, one of the reasons you say the changes were needed was to save paper and ink. Well, Your new invoice template was printing a blank sheet of paper before printing the invoice. I expect better quality control from Shopify and feel bad for the MANY that now have to pay someone to try and RE Fix their templates so they can become usable again.

Tracking company and number and HS tarif code not working anymore. So we can not use this invoice for international shipments.
*Update 15th of July
- fulfillment.tracking_company and fulfillment.tracking_number yields no results
- also HS codes are no longer available to use.
So we can't use invoices from Order Printer to ship internationally and use for customs. Sad when Shopify is bragging about markets and global expansion.
Hi, there! It sounds like you might need to update the variables from your old templates. This guide includes the variables supported on the new Order Printer app: https://shopify.link/2Zoy. -Sophia, Shopify Support
JUNE 24 - While we were able to successfully import our template from the legacy app, there is still coding adjustments required (layout is not the same, scaling is off, header is gone). We uninstalled and re-installed the app thinking it was an import snafu, but we are still having this issue. We are eager to make this transition but need to import our template exactly as it appears on the legacy app. Please assist, we have not gotten a response from Shopify support.
JUNE 6 - As a long-time user of the legacy app, we were initially optimistic about transitioning to the newer version, however our experience has left us disappointed.
The primary issue stems from the incompatibility between our custom template, which was meticulously crafted to suit our specific needs, and the new app. Despite reaching out to Shopify's support team, who were indeed helpful in their assistance, the ultimate verdict was disheartening: our template is simply "not compatible" with the new app.
The lack of compatibility and the requirement for coding knowledge makes it inaccessible and impractical for users like us. I sincerely hope that future updates will address these issues and make the transition smoother.
Hey, there! Thank you for taking the time to review the new Shopify Order Printer. I definitely hear you, and I appreciate you expressing the need to use your existing custom template in the new app. I'll make sure to pass this along to our development team so they can consider your comments when planning future updates. -Summer, Shopify Support
the new templates do not make any invoice totals....
while the legacy version was doing just great....
Thank you for sharing this feedback. The Shopify Order Printer app should be able to calculate the totals in the invoices. However, if you require assistance with customizing the template, then this is something that our Theme Support team can help you with. Simply visit the Shopify Help Center (https://shopify.link/vRnL) and let our advisors know that you'd like to create a customization request. Cheers. -Elias, Shopify Support
HATE THIS INVOICE!!!!
Whoever thought this up should be fired. The legacy invoice is way better.
You just have to ask, "Why?" why change an easy to read and understand invoice with this?
I'd like to give it a minus 10
Thank you for review and feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve our app. -Emily, Shopify Support
I really can't see ANY benefits to this new app. We copied our templates and it's unusable. After a few hours we had got it almost back to as it was by changing the variables. Luckily I know a bit of liquid coding but I know many do not. What was the point in that in all that work - what have I gained? Shopify say there is going to be a migration tool coming soon... I don't think it can come soon enough.
Thank you for your review and feedback. We switched over to a different tech stack that provides a better foundation to grow and roll out features. -Emily, Shopify Support
Shopify forcing the migration without putting any measures in place to help support template migration is a joke. Shopify is not the company they were 10 years ago, absolute travesty.
*** UPDATE *** Using the app further it is far and above a DOWNGRADE from the previous Order Printer app. Shopify is USELESS in assisting with migrating order templates. I have had to figure out liquid coding on my own and even then it barely works. This app is terrible and Shopify should be ashamed for their complete and utter failure to migrate effectively. Shopify is a shell of what it once was.
Hello! Thank you for your feedback and your review. We do have some information on transferring templates over to the new app in our Help Center here: https://shopify.link/18NL.
We updated the app to improve its performance, but we can completely understand how changes like this can impact merchants. I'm happy to pass this feedback on to our team who looks into improvements we can make. - Moira, Shopify Support
