- Limited options generally
- Can't choose to sell all products, or a category or by tag with subscriptions
- Must pick one and one product into a subscription. Then it crashes! I had to make 4 subscriptions profiles to fit all our 200+ products in subscriptions.
- No translations possible for text displayed on product page (English only) - Disappointing!
- Still no fix to offer customers more than - 1 - shipping option (not app related but still - come on guys!)
This is still the same app i pilot tested this summer, but i can't see any changes. I would recommend Shopify release a proper update at least to the points above, to make this app worth using.
I really hope you work on this app!

I've never written a review on a shopify app, even when it's been bad, but this one is beyond bad. We used it when it was in Beta with the hope and promise of improvements when it became available to everyone, but the app hasn't changed at all from the awful beta to now. We have almost zero control over settings, the only thing we can update on our end is how many payment attempts before the subscription is cancelled. It's embarrassing that this is a native shopify app. I know that app creation isn't a simple thing, but there are apps out there that already exist and do a lot better, it seems wild from a user perspective that they would get this so wrong. It has been a nightmare for our team to try to manage, there is no way to search within the app, there is no way to control user access or how they can manage their subscriptions. This app is basically unusable and the amount of band aids and workarounds we have is such a huge time and money suck that we regret switching. If there were any communication at all on upcoming updates we may feel a bit better, but the communication is absolutely zero. It has honestly made us consider leaving shopify altogether, that's how frustrating the whole experience with this app has been. I really really hope for improvements soon.

Worst app ever!!! Won't let you correctly separate discount codes per item only per Package. And also, if you use this app on one item, then on every single item that you sell, it will show an option for a monthly subscription. Poorly designed.

When it reached the third section titled 'Display Subscriptions on Your Store' with the option of 'Install widget,' I encountered the following message in the widget section:
'Subscription widget will only show on
products that have a subscription plan
attached to them.'
I tried everything to resolve this issue but was unsuccessful."
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that you are having trouble using the app.
The banner you see is not an error, but a notification to inform that products that have a selling plan attached to them will have the widget visible.

Please allow multiple shipping options! We have different shipping tiers on Shopify so I don't understand why that can't just carry through to Shopify Subscriptions since this is all under Shopify.
Also, we have tried importing our subscriber list and since the shipping price is wrong, we were told to delete the app for 72 hours to clear our list and start over. Did that and canceled subscribers are still showing up in our contracts dashboard meaning we have duplicates inhibiting us from selling subscriptions to customers.
Support - please help!

It's a good start, but the functionality is extremely limited for someone coming from one of the paid subscription apps. For example you cannot choose a specific date a customer will be charged for their subscription every month. Hopefully they will keep developing features and add options in the future.
Edit: just changed my review to one star because customers only get a single shipping option, no matter how many options you have available
Hi, we appreciate your feedback about anchor dates and the ability to select multiple shipping options.
We have informed our development team about adding them for potential future updates.

I'm feeling frustrated and disappointed because I've been searching for hours for a live store that uses this app to see how it works in real-time, but I haven't had any luck. even their support chat doesn't want to share any resources.
I'm surprised that the Shopify tech team hasn't created a demo store when every crappy app in the store seems to have one.
I wonder what kind of tech team is working in there, and I think someone should be held accountable for this negligence.
I really, really, really want to be able to use this native subscription app, BUT... there is no way that I can see that a customer can add or remove products from their account portal.
Am I missing something?
Hi, glad to hear you are excited about using the Subscription app!
You can set up customer management in Shopify's customer accounts.
If you have new customer accounts active, customers can log in to their account from your online store navigation and manage their subscriptions. If you have classic customer accounts, then you can share the subscription management url to give customers access to manage their own subscriptions.
Customers with new customer accounts or classic customer accounts can manage their subscriptions by clicking Manage your subscription from your automated subscription email notifications. These are automatically turned on when you download the app and you can edit them from the Settings section in the Subscription section of the app.
Turn on subscription management in your Shopify admin settings to allow customers to manage their subscriptions.
Steps:
From the Shopify admin, go to Settings > Customers.
Under New customer accounts in the Manage subscriptions section, click Turn on.
Optional: You can add the Subscriptions page link.
You can find out more information on the help center here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/purchase-options/shopify-subscriptions/customer-experience#subscription-management-for-customers
Hope this helps and don't hesitate to reach out to support if you have more questions.

I installed this app to try and see if I could move our company club subscriptions in house - I followed all the steps and couldn't even get the subscription option button to appear on the PDP.
After looking into this I have found that the app is not compatible with third party payment gateways, and can only be used with the Native Shopify payment gateways - which are not supported in South Africa - essentially making this app unusable in South Africa.
Hello,
We apologize that you are having trouble using the app.
Our app is compatible with a few gateways and not only native shopify payment gateway. You can find more information about it here - https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/purchase-options/shopify-subscriptions/setup
If you need more help or are looking for a specific payment gateway to be supported, please contact our support team at for assistance. We're here to help.

This seemed like an easy app and I was thrilled to see it however, once it was installed, the subscribe and save option could only appear at the top of the page instead of organically within the add to cart area as shown in the images used in the app details on the shopify app store.
In addition, even when the code was added as directed by the shopify helpdesk, the subscribe now button would not appear.
I will be uninstalling as it clearly did not have the kinks worked out.
