A solid app, does what it says and seems to be accurate. Support response is quick!
its a good app but its time consuming to input all your product cost from suppliers especially if you can't report your cost from suppliers as an excel!

You guys really did an excellent job on this App. It's clear on where your problems are in my business. Analyzing expenses is so easy and thorough...makes "what-ifs" more logical, which makes my decision making much easier. Thanks!
Ultimately it's a mediocre solution for a major failing of Shopify. No cost of goods.
It offered reporting, which we don't use, and it lacks the ability to adjust the COG when new inventory is purchased.
It works for now, but we are quickly outgrowing the $4.99 a month value.
Fills the COGS gap that shopify does not offer and does not intend to offer. A must have for inventory managment and cost reporting. Brilliant!
First time I installed it, it did not work. Left feedback and then support contacted me. Apparently they were fixing the servers. Then I went back and installed it again. It worked this time and I was able to download the template csv so I can upload the COGS.
Bulk upload status email was in spam folder.
Other than that, app works fine and developer is on point in support. Numbers are correct. Everything works fine. Although, it would be good to be able include fees we incur from other marketplace like eBay, Amazon, PayPal, etc. But even without it, you can still manually calculate it with the help of this app (get the total profit the app gives you and subtract the marketplace fees from it).
Maybe if we had more sales, we might use this but right now a simple excel sheet with formulas are easier.
I've had this app for about an hour, and I have already found SO much value in it. It offers things that you would expect would be standard in Shopify reporting, but is missing. I thought I was going to have to pay $100 a month to get an inventory app that would provide me this information, so I am SO glad someone referred me to this app. THANK YOU for developing this key to financial clarity for our businesses!
I have not fully utilized this tool for a historical reference however, upon first review this has all the simple COGS needs you could really ask for! The default margin for cost is also a very nice simple feature on top of the ability to account for cost of items and variants! The interface is simple and what shopify lacks natively, bravo!
What a waste. The app didn't calculate our costs to ship orders that qualified for free shipping using 3rd party apps to print the shipping labels.

I like the app just wish there was an option to get Google Ads charges as you do for FB. The rest of the feature are ok.

I love that I can see my profit on every order or run reports to see my monthly profits and costs. I have found it super easy to use. It would be great if it could sinc with shopify now for the cost price so I don't have to go to 2 different places to enter it but otherwise I love this app.

Could be better - doesn't seem to switch between different shopify sites using this app. which is a problematic if you are running a couple of sites and using Simply Cost. There's no login / log out function with in the app. I hope this can be resolved.

Great app and awesome support! We needed Inventory cost on hand and it's perfect for that. One thing that's missing is Cost of inventory by product type. It is doable through Export and filtering in Excel, but it takes too much time. As per the app developer this feature will be available in a couple of months, so fingers crossed! The Reports are great and very helpful, it gives you a pretty good picture of your profits, COGS, margins, etc. One thing to be aware of - the "Online orders profit report" or what it's called doesn't use correct cost of items for orders prior to installing this app (our product costs were already entered in Shopify prior to installing this app so I could tell the numbers were wrong). Seems like this issue goes away for new orders after the install though. To ensure that we will always have correct profit reporting for any period of time, I went back to our past orders and manually corrected the cost of items. I'm still giving 5 stars because this app is very handy for your basic needs and you can't beat the price and the support!
Thank you for your review! Yes you are right, when you first install the app, it does not automatically apply your product current costs to items in your past orders. This is by design because product costs changes overtime, the app does not assume items costs in your past orders are the same as your products current costs. However the app provide a few options for you to easily update the items costs in your past orders which you have done :).
i just needed to have the total costs of goods from my inventory at any moment..i tried about 4 other apps but they where confusing and wrong calculating. This app is amazing..it is easy to use and does all it needs to do.
tell me how many items and what the price and verry easy to export to an excell file where you have everything next to each other also how many pieces of the products.

Shopify doesn't have the ability to track the original cost of your items.

If you're a UK seller, note that you have to apply shipping tax in your Shopify settings, rather than in the app itself - had us confused to begin with. Now that it's fully set up it works perfectly.
Definitely worth spending the time to set this up and manage it correctly. Saves a lot of time in the long run. As with any COGS / Profit calculations, the quality of the output is determined by the effort and accuracy you put in.
I took the time to update the cost for each item in my store, and the profit margin on the dashboard didn't adjust. Not to mention, they require the margins to be fixed to 0-100% markup, but some industries have a 3-500% markup. This makes their app not useful for all markets.

This app is very useful for tracking costs which is an essential part of running a business. The customer service is excellent - Sam always responds quickly and provides assistance as well as honest insights on improvements he wants to make to the app.
The reason for the 4 star review is simply because the app is quite manual if you don't have access to bulk pricing spreadsheets etc. Also, I have to put in the shipping cost for each order manually as the price is different for most items, this can be a bit time consuming.
Overall, the price and customer service provided definitely makes up for any short falls in terms of usability.

This app deserves the good reviews it has received. It has been amazing for me, yes it's time-consuming to back-track the data but once you have done this it's extremely efficient and easy to maintain. The app is exactly what I needed. I had a really successful Christmas period of sales, yet the profitability was shite and I didn't understand what the problem was. I downloaded the app in January. It allows you to track profitability by time period, such as day/month etc and also by product, product type etc. So, with it, I discovered my best selling category was actually losing me a lot of money through exit-intent pop-up discounts etc. Thanks to this app I've been able to improve product margins (by increasing prices, buying stock at better prices and doing fewer discounts) and am running profitably. You can't fix what you don't measure. Thank you for such a great app!

Provides a very simple solution to the problem of Shopify not having a way to record the cost prices. Easy to instal and the support was quick to answer a couple of queries. I would say this is an essential app and recommend it.
I have found this very useful for calculating an accurate figure of my cost of goods sold, an essential figure to know when calculating profit! Easy to use app and affordable.

SimplyCost is exactly what we missed in Shopify. The just more than basic accounting information; so extensive reporting options including insight in our actual stock levels and values.
(What would be nice is a snapshot function to grab the stock level at the end of a month, quarter and year.)

Brilliant App! Gives me a true ideal of my profit after the cost of goods sold, shipping and any tax payable is deducted from our income. Has great reports too, so I can now see my profit of certain products, vendors, sku's which are all exportable! You are also able to view the current value of your stock, with it's potential revenue and profit. You can also see the profitability percentage of individual products, orders and all these reports can be applied to your archived past orders too!
Did have issues with the csv upload so I we was forced to unfortunately manually upload the cost prices of products and then individual apply again to all products previously sold in past orders. (Approx 900 products within 8000 orders took the majority of the day).
Having said that the support was excellent and personal with almost immediate responses, and help was given with my manual uploads and my data was double checked for me to make sure I hadn't missed anything (Thanks).
I would like to add that all though it took sometime it was so worth it and to be honest having to go through it all gave me a much better understanding of both the app and it functions as well amy own COGS. Having it on a spreadsheet somewhere is all well and good but I now know them all from memory!
