This is the first app I have used for my site, it is very easy to use. My only complaint (and I haven't really asked or looked into yet) would be you can't seem to display the stores in a certain order. I sell my product at numerous locations, and want a certain location at the top. Other than that, I would recommend this app!
Great app. Very easy to use. Much easier to use then building a custom page for the same function. I only have one suggestion, the "State" field should be the abbreviation (i.e. NY, FL, TX, etc...) not the full spelling of the state. IMO the state abbreviation looks better in an address field then the full name. Only way to use the abbreviation is to upload your dealer listings; the app's default drop menu only allows the full spelling. Otherwise, the app is 5 stars.
THE PATENT LAWSUIT TROLLS ARE SCAMMERS You may have seen reviews mentioning that installing this app led threat of a lawsuit. Be aware, it's a scam. In 2011 there was a patent granting GEOTAG the protect the marking of physical locations on a map for goods and services (474 Patent). This patent was overturned in 2016 in Microsoft/Google vs GEOTAG (look it up). Here is a copy-paste from the Federal Court of Appeals - "We have considered GeoTag’s remaining arguments and find them unpersuasive." If you ever get a solicitation regarding a patent infringement regarding the mapping of physical locations on a map, it's likely a scam. We can thank Google and Microsoft's legal teams for doing the groundwork on this.
This app is part of our new store upgrade and it's been very efficient. The support staff is very helpful is always there to answer any questions.
The app just did not work. It was pretty. But didn't work. When a customer would visit the page, the map wouldn't load. If they hit refresh it was fine, but none of our customers knew to do that. I tried getting support from Bold, but it was quite possibly the worst experience I've had with a support team. Every day I'd get one email from them, asking to clarify what browser I was using when encountering the error. So I'd answer that the error was on all browsers. The next day Alexa would write back and ask me which version of the browser. So I told her it was every browser we could find, and the newest versions of each. The next day it was another email from her asking what operating system I was using. It was terrible, almost as if she was dragging it out so that we'd use the entirety of the trial period and we'd be charged. I've since found a free store locator app that, although it doesn't look quite as pretty, actually works. Did I mention it was free???
It does not work. We have tried reaching out to support, but no help from there side as well. Whenever you try to save the API key, it refreshes as soon as the page refreshes.
First poor experience with a Bold app, but unfortunately their Store Locator is barely usable at the moment until their engineers fix an issue with the newly updated stores showing up as a Non-geolocating store instead of showing the location. So Merchant (you and I) has to manually go in and set each location (their support team's own words). Which I can't realistically do for over 500 stores. According to them, they are working on this bug and will update as soon as they can. For the time being I uninstalled and went with another app.
Great app on first sight but one really big issue:
When you add a stores address it's not showed correctly on the map. You have to manually put the dropper in the correct location. If you have one shop maybe thats easy but we have 27 so thats impossible.
Also, when the customer sits on the page with the location and you press GET DIRECTION it's location systeem, again, is showing totally wrong things.
For example, according to their system I'm in South Africa now while I'm in Brussels... thats not a small error. ;-)
Sorry, we're not using it anymore. For a paid app this can't be I think.
Awesome app. Saved me hours of custom programming and is quick and easy to use. The only bonus feature would be if we could control the stores in the shopify admin vs the boldapps admin. Either way it still works great.
Good app. There are some bugs though and support is a little slow.
It currently crashes Safari in iOS 7.02 and iOS 7.03.
There are some issues with responsive websites.
And many zip codes do not search correctly.
Hopefully these will be ironed out - because the app as a whole is terrific.
