Too expensive compared to other similar apps. Their pricing model is thought to grow exponentially. It is unsustainable if you have multiple countries and an active blog to be translated.
Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We completely understand your concern regarding pricing sustainability for very large multilingual projects, especially when managing a large catalog alongside an active blog and multiple target languages.
In your case, our team spent quite a bit of time reviewing your setup, estimating the projected translated volume, and exploring different approaches with you — including optimization strategies and discounted options. As discussed during our exchanges, the main challenge was the exceptionally high volume of content involved rather than a technical limitation with the product itself.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback on this topic, as scalability and long-term cost predictability are important considerations for projects of your size. Our team remains available if you'd ever like to revisit the project with a more tailored long-term approach.

Uninstall doesn't clean up, caused massive hidden revenue loss months later. Plus billing kept running after removal. We installed Weglot to test internationalization on our Shopify store, decided it wasn't right for us, and uninstalled within days. Two serious problems followed:
1. They kept charging us for 3 months after we uninstalled. The app was removed from our Shopify store, but the charges continued through Shopify Billing for three full months. We had to chase them down through support to stop it and request refunds. Watch your billing statements carefully uninstalling the app from Shopify does NOT automatically cancel your Weglot subscription.
2. Hidden URL residue caused months of bot traffic and a major revenue hit. When Weglot is active, it creates locale subpaths on your domain (/it/, /de/, /fr/, /ru/, etc.) for translated content. When you uninstall, those URLs stay indexed in Google and continue to be hit by bot crawlers, AI search results, and old links — indefinitely. There's no in-app cleanup, no warning that this will happen, no instructions on how to remove the URLs from search engines.
In our case, these zombie URLs (we don't even sell in those markets) became a magnet for bot/scraper traffic. The volume was high enough that our edge layer's bot-mitigation kicked into overdrive and started returning 403 errors on cart.js for real shoppers whose network profile happened to resemble the bot signatures. Add-to-Cart silently broke for thousands of US customers across multiple devices and browsers. They saw the Add-to-Cart button, clicked it, nothing happened. They bounced. We only caught it through Noibu (an error-monitoring app), which flagged 4,165 affected sessions in a single week with zero progressing to checkout. Estimated annual revenue impact: $104k.
When we finally traced it back, the fix took manual work on our side: ~24 Shopify URL redirects, robots.txt customization, and Google Search Console URL removals — none of which Weglot helps with at uninstall.
For other merchants considering Weglot:
- Before you install, ask in writing how to fully remove URL artifacts at uninstall
- Confirm in writing how to cancel billing (assume uninstall ≠ cancellation)
- Track your conversion + bot traffic for weeks AFTER uninstall, not just during use
- The damage from URL residue can dwarf any short-term value of trying the app. We lost months of clarity on why our conversion was degrading before tracing it back here. Weglot's "easy install, easy
uninstall" framing is misleading. Uninstall is not clean
Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that uninstalling Weglot did not meet your expectations.
We understand your concerns regarding both the subscription management and the cleanup process after removing the app. While uninstalling Weglot from a Shopify store does not automatically cancel the associated subscription, we recognize that this may not have been as clear as it should have been and appreciate your feedback on the matter.
Regarding the translated URLs, once pages have been crawled and indexed by search engines, their removal typically requires actions outside of Weglot itself. We understand that this process can be time-consuming and appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us improve both our documentation and the guidance we provide to merchants.
In the meantime, I’ve reached out to you privately because I’d genuinely like to make things right. As a gesture of goodwill, I’ve offered to fully refund your subscription payments and would be happy to personally handle that for you if you’re open to it.
Our team is always open to discussion, and if you would like to continue the conversation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@weglot.com. We’d be more than happy to assist.
Thank you again for your detailed feedback. It helps us continue improving both our product and the guidance we provide to merchants throughout their journey with Weglot.

UPDATE - MY WORST IN FIVE YEARS OF SHOPIFY
The app does not work with shopify markets, I advertise for nothing, the site is not stable and the check out broken most of the time because of weglot.
The customers service says it works.
If I could put less than 1 star I would do it. Minus 100 stars.
Stop sending useless emails, contact me to build a real solution.
That crap for 400 euros / month ??????
____
Worked well the first time. Stopped because expensive.
Reinstalled and then a nightmare began.
Super low level customer service just copy pasting helplessly the instruction of the website.
DISAPPOINTING for such a budget !
I would have given it 0 stars if that were possible. This app was recommended by an agency, but they clearly haven’t used it much. Translating our mega menu is impossible. The default translations are catastrophic, Google Translate does a better job. And when you need to make changes, it’s only word by word. In short, don’t waste your time or your money.
Hi Dr. LEVY,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We’re genuinely sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation was for you. Following your review, our support team reached out privately to better understand the issues you encountered and offer assistance with the mega-menu translation and editing setup.
As part of this follow-up, a full refund was processed to ensure the matter was resolved on our side, even though we didn’t have the opportunity to address the technical setup together beforehand.
Our support team remains available should you wish to revisit the configuration or need help in the future. We always aim to assist users with complex setups and ensure Weglot works as expected.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Don't install this app, super expensive, and also I have deleted it and it still on my site.
CAUTION: WILL LEAVE CODE AFTER UNINSTALLING!!!
Hi,
Weglot Support here. I hope you're doing well.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Shopify.
About the leftover code, note that now Weglot is able to remove all its code related to the Shopify API automatically.
For older integrations, a manual action can be required, and you'll find the process in the documentation below
> https://support.weglot.com/article/127-shopify-troubleshooting-deleted-weglot-app-but-weglot-button-remains-on-website
We'd be really glad to help you further remove the leftover code in your admin. In this case, you just have to share with our Support team the code so we can send you a collaboration request.
We've sent you an email. Don't hesitate to answer the email to follow the discussion so we can try to improve your experience with our plugin.
Have a wonderful day,
Cheers,
1-Star (Wish I Could Give 0) – Deceptive Billing & Unauthorized Charges
I canceled my subscription two months ago, yet I’m still being charged
325/ month. When I signed up I picked the 39/month Business plan, but the platform automatically enabled a hidden "Volume Upgrade" option—something I never noticed or consented to. Because of this deceptive practice, I was charged over $300/month for four months before realizing what happened.
Even after canceling, the charges continue. This is predatory behavior—shame on this company for exploiting customers with sneaky auto-upgrades and ignored cancellations.
I’ve already taken action by:
Reporting to the BBB (Better Business Bureau)
Disputing all charges with American Express
Filing complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies
Hi there,
We're really sorry to hear about your experience and completely understand how frustrating this situation must feel.
We want to clarify that our Auto-Upgrade feature is not enabled by default— it must be manually activated. It's designed to ensure your website stays fully translated even if your word count exceeds the plan limit, and we make this clear during setup and in our documentation.
That said, we understand it can sometimes be overlooked, and we're always happy to review it and check further with our customers to see exactly what happened.
Regarding the ongoing charges, it appears that your subscription was not fully canceled, which is why billing continued.
Canceling on Shopify or uninstalling the app doesn't automatically cancel your subscription with Weglot, as billing is handled separately.
In any case, note that we processed the refund of the related charges for you.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us again directly at support@weglot.com so we can check this further together.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback—it helps us improve both our service and communication.
Best regards,
The Weglot Team
Terrible app. You manually translate content on their platform, but the changes never reflect in your store. Their support team constantly tries to shift the blame, claiming it's an issue with Shopify or other apps, but never their fault. Truly disappointing.

I've uninstalled weglot app but still be charged in the next month.
Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re sorry for the confusion this caused.
Uninstalling the Weglot app does not automatically cancel the subscription, which needs to be ended separately from the account billing settings. We understand this may not have been clear and sincerely apologize for the frustration.
Our support team has reached out to you to fully clarify the situation and to propose a complete refund so this can be resolved properly. We remain available and committed to closing this matter in a fair and positive way.

Does not translate the checkout page anymore since Shopify rolled out the One page checkout. Did not even bother notify the customers about it. No solutions found, team useless. Now the checkout page displays in French for all our worldwide customers. Great !
Hello,
I want to extend my deepest apologies for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the recent issues you encountered with our service, particularly regarding the translation of your checkout page since Shopify's One-page Checkout update. Your feedback is immensely valuable, and I genuinely regret the impact this has had on your customers' experience.
I see our team proposed to help you out, but you did not respond to our email asking for more information to be able to propose a solution for you. We also see you are still using Weglot.
If you still need help, please get in touch with us at support@weglot.com.
Cheers,
