This app has always been a bit crap. It did 85% of the job but there were always glitches and refunds/ credits etc were always catered poorly. I thought it was a freebie provided by Xero so didn't complain. But no! This is another crap-ola BOLD app. Bold seem to think they can over-charge for everything.
I found this month that I had not been able to reconcile my Xero transactions due to exceeding monthly export on free plan, so upgraded. However I still can't export the remainder of the orders from last month even though I'm now on the paid plan and there is no way to go back retrospectively and export the orders from before today! Now I'm in the crappy position of having to reconcile 15+ days of transactions manually. I'm going to be un-installing and disputing the charge for the current month via Shopify support.
If I could give no stars I would.
This app makes me want to kill myself... I have used it for around 18 months and at I chose it because it had the Bold Apps name behind it.
Well I can safely say that this app is terrible. You need to map each product manually on your store with the entry on Xero because if you don't the app will match your products any which way it likes when you export which will wreak havoc on your stock in Xero and has necessitated us needing to commit close to 90 hours fixing the issues that the app created.
I got in touch with support to see if they can fix the issue and they were sympathetic but ultimately blamed the original developer of the app and stated that Bold is unlikely to redo the app as this will take "significant time". So they are very happy to take my money in the meantime but won't do a thing to improve the app.
Recently I got in touch with support to see if they can improve the loading of the products for the manual mapping (spoiler, they can't) and they did an export without telling me and it has messed up the mapping of over 80 products.
Don't even get me started on the manual mapping interface... the search function does not work and I have to scroll through our thousand+ catalogue of SKUs to match the correct product.
Bold... if you are reading this: FIX YOUR APP! REBUILD IT! It is not fit for purpose and it dragging your name through the mud!!!!
Update (11 July): Support are now harassing me and want to reset the mapping so they can "test" how the mapping is taking place. Yeah great, then I get to clean up the mess in Xero afterwards. This will only lead to even more of a disaster. They are blaming me because they say that my SKUs are not right on Shopify or Xero or both. There are some variants on Shopify that share SKUs on Xero and there are some SKUs on Xero that are not on Shopify, that is just how business works. I still don't understand why the app can't take this into account/ignore this and just match the SKUs exactly instead of randomly matching them any which way it likes.
Even better: why not let the app take a stab at matching the SKUs on Xero and Shopify and have the customer be able to review it BEFORE they need to export the transactions.
AVOID APPS BY BOLD COMMERCE.
The app and team behind it remains an utter disappointment. Bloat features were added instead of fixing critical infrastructure. Customer support is absent.
Sync breaks without notification. Errors are unsolvable and riddled with cryptic messages like "A NoMethodError occured when saving the order." Unsolvable 500 Error pages.
Archived Xero Contacts are impossible to change. Navigation is a pain. The "Mapping" page never loads -- customer support mentioned that it does take 10+ minutes.
There is no priority placed into resolving critical bugs for a semi-functional overpriced app. Bold will abandon you and your issues.
Original review: Bait and switch scam. Pretended to be an official app by Xero, then started charging $20+/month without notifying users.
This integration has always been free. They suggest I move to the Enterprise plan. So now I have to pay Xero their monthly fee and another monthly fee for their integration!? I'll be researching other ways to work with Xero.
Buggy and incomplete.
We faced number of issues that turned out to be bugs in this app. After weeks of exchanging emails and wasting our time, we were told its a bug and their developers "are working on it". One month later nothing has happened, ticket closed! This app is far from ready.
It does not support multiple stores.
It has issues importing taxes correctly.
Randomly fails to import transactions and never imports them to Xero,...
We have been using this app for over 2 years now, I would avoid if you were looking for a seamless integration, the app has plenty of flaws and bugs that will result in inaccurate information being fed though to Xero, causing huge amount of workload that requires manual correction.
The support team replies every 1 or 2 days to try and help, but the programming within the APP is the major let down of it all. Now we are left with thousands of sales invoices, sale payments, credit notes, credit note payments and much more to be manually checked to ensure all errors were corrected.
The export report is very basic, it will show X amount has been exported, but you have no way of finding out what has or hasn't been exported, this is a huge problem when you are trying to check each export to ensure the app hasn't messed up again.
If you have inventory that requires 100% accuracy with part numbers, this app also will slip, some part numbers will be fed through, some will not entirely, and some will be fed through as an incorrect part number.
As mentioned in my first sentence, if you want a trouble free integration, I would suggest you look elsewhere.
Hugely disappointed with the app, they need better developers to write their app that doesn't screw up people's business and livelihood.
I would wish our experience upon anyone else, we usually leave positive reviews where we can, but this app has cost us a massive amount of resource as all our employees are now working on the accounting to ensure that Xero is error free, and unable to do carry out their originally assigned duty.
So unless you wish to have lots of errors in your Xero that you will not be able to easily identify, this is not the app for you as a Shopify owner that already has a million things to do without the need for this amount of stress and unnecessary workload!
Sadly since BOLD taking over the app, bugs have presented themselves and are not being fixed, rendering the product completely useless...
Seems the app is getting worse...
Not even worth 1 star. Cant map all of our transactions to the Xero dashboard, wasted multiple months of $60 subscription fees for nothing. Don't bother with Xero since this app makes it unusable with Shopify.
So they took a perfectly working FREE app... add bugs and a bucket of exporting issues to it...and charge us $59?!? (Yes, they offer a free plan for people who wish to sell 1 item per day...so it doesn't apply to us).
Sorry but not at that price.
Currently looking for alternatives and it seems ONESAAS and Expandly looks promising (and a lot cheaper)
The completely ridiculous pricing structure has been introduced without any notification or communication from the developers. My XERO subscription costs less than this app now does. I don't mind paying for apps that work well and provide a solution within my store, but to go from free to $60USD a month without any notice is absolutely ridiculous.
