So far, my experience with Yoast on the Shopify Platform has been great. I was having a few issues with Structured Data and Sid gave me a detailed explanation to help me understand the flow between Yoast and my Review App, Judge me. Really useful tool to use daily to optimise our collections and products. Simple to find related keywords in the app and not over complicate it. Good for all team members to use as part of daily tasks, even those not as experienced in SEO as the explanations as to why you are changing something are really helpful. Links to more detailed articles are also very informative. When an issue came up with our theme clashing, it was quickly resolved and so very happy with the support side too.

Yoast SEO is Great at what it's designed to do: help your store or site with Search engine optimization so you can rank higher on search engine pages. It also has AI that can write meta-descriptions, as well as Instagram and X descriptions. I highly recommend it for all of your SEO needs.

Do not install it. After uninstalling, it removed the meta and title and put American Express everywhere. You will need support to get your shop back.
March 28 update: we are adding this update in an attempt to be notified through the Shopify review system and for visibility purposes.
Based on our logs, we noticed that you followed the suggested uninstallation instructions on March 14, and your source code no longer has Yoast SEO output. We also checked your meta description and SEO title, and there is no reference to American Express, so the issue no longer occurs after the right uninstallation steps were taken.
Please do provide your confirmation that this issue has been resolved or if you need any further assistance. Our support team remains at your disposal.
March 14 reply: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, though we're sorry to read about the experience you had. We understand how troublesome this must have been, so please allow us to address your points and concerns.
Based on the details you shared here, we understand that there is/was leftover code in your theme files after removing our app. This usually happens if the app is deleted without completing the two-step process (https://yoast.com/help/remove-yoast-code-from-theme-in-shopify/), which requires first deactivation of the app to remove our code from the theme and then deletion of the app from the Shopify admin. Or if another (usually SEO-related) app interfered with the removal process (we also noticed leftover code from another SEO app).
Fortunately, there is no need for time-consuming manual code removal or additional (which we can do for you if requested) in this case, as this can be easily fixed with a simple reinstallation and uninstallation process.
Here are the next troubleshooting steps to take:
1. Re-install the Yoast SEO app on your site.
2. Instead of "Get a subscription," click on "Remove theme modifications.". Please wait until the process is finished.
3. Click on Go back to Apps and then remove the app again.
Once this is done, the Yoast SEO code should be completely removed from your theme files, and the metadata output will be restored to what you had before. But you can always contact us for any clarifications or further assistance if needed.
In all cases, we would like to see how we can help further on this matter, so our team will soon reach out via email.
Lastly, we'd like to clarify that we have not responded earlier to your review, as systemically, Shopify reviews are visible two days after being submitted.
Makes optimizing pages easy. Works well with Shopify. The team is helpful and responsive. Reported an issue and they kept me in the loop until it was resolved. Would definitely recommend!

★☆☆☆☆ Full of leftover code – causes serious issues even after uninstall
I installed Yoast because of their name recognition, but it turned out to be one of the most frustrating decisions I’ve made on Shopify.
After following their recommended uninstall process exactly (including contacting support first), I was shocked to discover that the app left behind multiple metafields and traces in my theme, which broke both my structured data and my sitemap indexing in Google Search Console.
Even worse:
The sitemap stopped working properly after uninstall
Metafields labeled "Yoast SEO: Temporary definition" remained on every product
Their cleanup tool did not remove them
Shopify support confirmed this is a known issue among developers, and yet Yoast has taken no steps to properly fix it
Yoast claims they don’t modify your sitemap or theme, but the reality tells a different story. If you care about SEO, do not install this app unless you're ready to spend hours fixing the mess it leaves behind.
I expect much better from a company with Yoast’s reputation — and they should be warning users about these risks clearly upfront.

"Thanks again for your patience. As promised, I have worked here with our team to resolve this issue.
Due to the bug that was caused by Yoast-SEO, Google cannot index the store properly thus affecting your store searchability. After carefully checking, we have come up to some changes on your theme code to force update the xml of your sitemap. As of the moment, this what I can see for your sitemap."

Thank you for sharing this, and we’re sorry for the trouble you experienced.
We'd like to clarify that when our app is properly uninstalled (first deactivation and then uninstallation), it does not cause SEO or indexing issues and restores the relevant settings to their previous state.
From our first interaction, we noted that multiple schemas were active (whether those were from another SEO app, custom code, or your theme) in the source code. In such cases, even if our app was deactivated before uninstallation, it’s possible the process was interrupted or could not complete properly due to that app’s code or other external factors, such as theme customizations, request limitations or a network issue. Unfortunately, we can’t know in advance how other apps or external factors may affect the uninstall process, but we’re always happy to assist further when our support team is contacted and provided with store access.
Regarding the message from the Shopify support advisor, we’ve raised this directly to Shopify in order to investigate internally, as it may be based on a misunderstanding or incomplete information if the uninstall process was not followed or an interruption occurred.
Our team will continue the conversation and provide updates via email, and remains available to help clarify and resolve any remaining concerns.
