UpPromote Affiliate Marketing

I’ve been using this app to manage our affiliate program and appreciate the support team’s responsiveness. When we encountered refund syncing issues, the team investigated promptly, provided manual workarounds, and followed up until certain cases were fixed.

However, the app’s current tracking logic has a major drawback:

For refunded orders linked to multiple affiliates, the system only deducts commission from one affiliate, not all connected affiliates. This leads to inaccurate payouts and requires manual adjustments.

Certain product updates (e.g., adding new options to SKUs) require a manual “re-sync” in the backend, which isn’t intuitive and can cause tracking gaps if missed.

While the support team is cooperative and open to improvement, the existing logic creates extra manual work and risks for businesses with high order volumes. We hope the development team will prioritize a permanent solution for accurate, automated tracking.

excellent customer service, but i failed to attract any affiliate due to what i believe is a relative opacity of the program versus what i expected. In any case, a total failure for my business.

The Youtube video tutorial links are outdated b/c they showcase the "old interface" of managing settings from the website merchaant acct, instead of managing all the settings within the shopify app. It was very confusing for me and wasted a lot of my time. please take them down, not helpful.

This app covers the basics, but there are quite a few features I'd love to see implemented. But my support with Tanie is 5 STARS she was quick and responsive and had my issue resolved within seconds. Thanks for your support!

So far I love the app and thought this was a specific review for my recent bulk payout experience. In regard to that I kept getting an error message because it was my first time so I'd fix what needed to be fixed and it would still give the error so I had to close and exit 3 times to get it to go through with my changes.

Just to add to it I submitted this review and it brought me back to the same page to submit the review. After 5 times I gave up and lo and behold my review is there. If this edit doesn't show up I'm not going to keep clicking this time. I'm tired ;)

This app gets the job done but is annoying to navigate as you need to click in multiple different places to get all the info for an individual influencer. It's as if zero thought went into the UX and instead they just duck taped elements together. I wouldn't recommend it.

When utilizing a multi-store setup, certain advanced features, like "auto-generated coupons," aren't shareable across all stores. The providers require separate subscriptions for each store to access these features. Even if you're willing to invest more, some of these advanced functionalities aren't integrated across platforms. This results in multiple coupon sets that aren't universally applicable, as well as distinct media libraries and multiple MLM structures for commission calculations.

This app is strategically getting more expensive and offering less. They make it clear that you will be severely affected for anything less than their $50/month plan.

We have VERY basic needs for our program and there is incredibly complexity to this app. I don't want to switch, but I feel like we're slowly being forced to leave due to unnecessary complexity.

This app is decent but has alot of typos and some small bugs. You can get around them all to make things work, but things could be streamlined to make it easier for the affiliate manager.

Update:
It takes about 2 minutes to add each affiliate due to alot of repetitive tasks that can be easily coded away. I don't like spending 1 hour to onboard 30 new affiliates.

1) You cannot set a default payment method. I need to login as each affiliate and change that option every time.
2) When adding a redirect URL, it always asks "Did you create URL redirect for this custom link?" every single time. There should be a check option to "never show this again"
3) Making custom discount codes is tedious because you need to manually go to each one again after adding the affiliate add each one and then re-type (or paste) a description of each coupon code, even though each affiliate basically gets the same type of coupon. There has to be a way to streamline this. Why isn't on the same page as their profile info?

I got this app in hopes that their marketplace would help attract affiliate marketers. I haven't had any hits since subscribing a little over a week ago. Hopefully the app will come through on that front. I'm only offering this review now because UpPromote asked me to do so. I'd love to offer a higher rating. I suspect this app may be better for managing affiliate relationships that you bring in yourself. Maybe something to think about before subscribing to pay the monthly fees if you don't already have affiliate marketers lined up.
