We have used this app for about 10 months and in the last 2 months we decided to go to the pay model for email and sms notifications.
A couple positive changes:
1) The SMS notifications get directly to your customer and this really sets us apart from many of our competitors.
2) The SMS allows us to give last minute tips & reminders for customers to get a better experience out of our products
3) We have had alot of customers screen shot the SMS notifications (on delivery) to show their excitement that their package is en route.
General Questions to ask if this is for you:
-I started with more SMS notification points (on pickup/on delivery/on receipt) and I found the SMS optimal point was at delivery/on exception as it kept costs down but worked well with the email notifications as they could provide more in depth communication
-Make sure you review all of your apps/ecommerce/shipping software to make sure customers are not getting too may emails so they do not have overload hit
-I think it is a great practise to notify customers in the delivery receipt that you will follow-up with them with a quick review email in 1-2 weeks time. We did this and it increased our review frequency. This was an interesting result as the review frequency increased and more in depth and helpful feedback (positive and negative but mostly constructive)
All and all, a great app, integrates well, easy to use, and I will say it is definitely unique and worth the money.
Nitin has been particularly helpful with answering my questions, timely and friendly service. Afterships new Okendo integration, allowing us to use a "delivered" trigger for our Product Review and therefore Post Purchase emails is great. Customers will love this communication being timely rather than receiving a blanket delay.
Aftership is a must must MUST! My company was using Aftership's website to track international shipments from the USA because once it left the USA, USPS's tracking stoped updating, but Aftership tracks even when the item transfers to different shippers in different countries! We didn't even know there is a Shopify app, but now we have create a track orders page and a returns page with their plugin and it honestly saves so much time responding to emails about tracking and returns! Can't say anything but good about this App!

This app does a great job at notifying our customers about their packages from multiple fulfillment centers. Best of all it can notify us about exceptions before they become a problem. It really makes us look good! Would highly recommend it.
Customer service was responsive, removed branding from tracking page. We are a small store and the tracking page and the updates are great way for us to keep track of orders.
One of the best features about this app is the ability for me to get instant notifications about the status of various shipments. It's a great tool- it lets me see if my customers have received their shipments and it allows me to follow up with them. I'm really glad that I have this app- the best part- it's free!
Really like this app as it makes my life easier! Love the tracking page that I can integrate with my website as it help my business to be more professional. Good job guys!
Great app for customer service...As an online store in Mexico where there is a lack of information, this gives our customers peace of mind.
