Wir waren eine Weile zufrieden mit der App. Aber leider häufen sich in der letzten Zeit die Bugs und es ist sehr mühsam die die Ordnung der Produkte im Builder zu gestalten und zu übewachen. Die App hat plötzlich Produkte wieder rausgestrichen, welche wir mühselig wieder integrieren mussten. Wir wechseln die App.

We have not experienced this before; we also checked our logs and confirmed that nobody removed these manually. We've been using Boxbuilder for several months now and have decided that it's time to give them the 5-star review they deserve. We researched every last app for building sets and kits and this is the only one on the entire platform that does what we need: It gives us full control of set/kit bundling, allows you to put whatever constraints you need to on product selection, allows you to build any kind of automatic discount system you want, and works with any subscription app (to include the one we currently use).

We strongly prefer customers to subscribe to our products because doing so gives us predictability which helps with inventory management, product freshness, and revenue predictability. However we don't just throw our products in a shipping box with crinkle paper. We place them into inner partitions so that they arrive securely without leaving the customer a mess to sift through and clean up.

With that said, we have two product sizes: a jar and a bottle, and a partition for each (an upper and a lower partition). The jars go into one partition, the bottles into the other. This created a dilemma: how do we limit the jar products to a total of 4 (it's a 2x2 partition) and the bottle products to a total of 9 (3x3 partition) while still allowing the customer to pick whatever they want within those constraints?

After meetings with numerous other sets/kits/box builder apps (and countless email back-and-forths) *only* BoxBuilder had the functionality needed to meet this requirement. What's more is that while some other apps were able to work with some subscription apps, BoxBuilder works with any subscription app that uses Shopify's subscription API, meaning we're free to migrate from one subscription app to another without creating issues.

As if that weren't enough, the good people at BoxBuilder reached out to us completely unsolicited and offered to work on getting the style of the BoxBuilder better aligned with that of our website (color scheme etc) to look more pleasing overall, which they're working on now. We were also able to get a custom gif uploaded for the load screen without any issue.

I see a few 1-star reviews and I couldn't disagree with them more strongly. When you install BoxBuilder I recommend getting everything set up as best you can and then reaching out to the team and asking them to look through everything and make sure it's all set up correctly. In my experience they will be happy to do so.

This app has functionality that no other bundling app has, it has solid customer support, and it has been reliable at a reasonable price. It deserves no less than 5 stars. If you need the kind of robust options that only BoxBuilder offers then it's a no-brainer.

My only feedback to the team at BoxBuilder: we need a way to link to the builder such that the customer is taken to the final step and their box is pre-loaded with specific products (dependent on the link URL structure). This way we can link them to recommended pre-built boxes. It's still a 5-star app even without this, but this would be a welcome addition and from what I understand the developers are actively working on it.

I test a lot of shopify apps and 95% of the time I face the same problem. We merchants are on earth battling real problems and app developers are somewhere in the moon or a paradise where the sun always shine and the world is perfect in their imagination of how a e-commerce businesses work as they are not merchants but app developers.

This app has the potential to become a great app but it is not because it lacks important details, details the developers would understand if they would have themselves an ecommerce business and had to deal with how logistics processes and 3PL warehouses work as well as what bundles really should be.

Let’s start with the PROs:

- It features some kind of simple conditional logic and that is something you will hardly find in other apps, we really need something like this, that is why we invested some time testing this app.

- You can create several steps so that customers go from one step to the next in the process of choosing their products. Im sure there are more Pros but nothing really special beside that.

The CONs:

- Buggy, it started to do estrange things with products, showing them as not being in stock when they really were and things like that. We do not know if that is something punctual and the app behaves so in certain scenarios or it is really as buggy as other users have reported here.

- Yes when you click in a product when creating the bundle it opens the product in a pop up to see a bigger picture and the description but it does not link to the original product, which is really what it should do because there is no point of having pop ups showing just a part of that product.

- When the customer adds a product to the bundle, on the listing on the right, they add the title of product in text but without a small picture of the product which but more than two or three products looks not clear.

- The design lacks the most basic UX principles, problem you will find in 95% of all Shopify Apps. Most apps show horrible design results on our beautiful themes and this one is unfortunately not different in that respect.

- The conditional logic does not differentiate if the customer adds one unit of one product or 5 units of that same product and for us that is crucial. When we asked them if they could add that feature (A feature we found reasonable and easy to implement) they answer very correctly and kindly saying that they wouldn’t do it now. They didn’t even say, well let’s talk about it and maybe we can find a solution, it was a simple NO. I thought well I could do a workaround creating product bundles with more than one of the same product in that bundle and add that bundle as a product in the bundle.

- But all that is useless if you need to deal with stock control and real logistics since this app adds your bundle in the cart as a single product with a list in text underneath of the products contain in that bundle, if they selves would be merchants they would know the lack of inventory control makes their app pretty useless for most users selling hundreds or thousands of products and having to control their inventories or their 3PL warehouses.

In a nutshell an app with great potential because of its conditional logic approach but their developers needs someone who understands about inventory control, UX principles, how important is to implement a real conditional logic and make this app stable and bug free because there is nothing worse than having to rely on an app which you cannot really rely on.

We will take a look at this app in a few months, maybe the developers make an effort to really improve this app in that they go out of their developers boxes and take a look at how ecommerce works in the real world.

I've had a great experience with BoxBuilder. It works really well for my build your own gift boxes. I like the wide selection of features and options, they're all are quite logical and easy to set up yourself. When I've struggled on my own, the Support team has been helpful and quick. The layout on my site looks professional and is easy to navigate for my customers.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD - THIS APP IS NOT SUPPORTED.

From Shopify:
"BoxBuilder: DIY Product Bundle is currently unsupported...it may not work as expected until the developer updates it. You can contact the developer for support or uninstall the app and find an alternative in the Shopify App Store."

We've had this installed since October and it has gone down multiple times for large swaths of time. Their latest patch fails to load or fix the issues. Customer's are building boxes and then left hanging (it never actually gets to the checkout point),
Super disappointed in the product and the "customer service".

We're actively looking for a new app as there are/were too many problems over an extended period of time. Save yourself the aggravation and avoid BoxBuilder: DIY Product Bundle by Staytuned.

Thank you for your honest review. We've clearly let you down here. I'm sorry about that. I'll be reaching out to you personally to see if we can turn this experience around for you.

I do want to note here that the message you're seeing from Shopify in your store admin that BoxBuilder is "not supported" refers to the fact that our app is currently making an API call to an unsupported endpoint (which will be fixed very soon). It does not mean that we do not offer support for the app. We definitely do offer customer service and support.

That said, after reviewing your tickets with us, I agree that our support crew was not responsive enough to your needs. That's not the standard we set for ourselves. Again, I apologize. I hope you'll give us another chance to address the issues you've been struggling with.

I was VERY disappointed in their customer service. I started trying to get the app integrated into my online shop on March 27 and still did not have things working smoothly by May 2nd. We were up against a wall as we wanted to launch for Mother's Day and needed time to market the new product line and build awareness.

On May 3rd, after not hearing back from them and having no resolve, I deleted the app and went with a different one that I had up and running by the next day with no issues.

We lost sales and too many hours of my time working through the issues with this app. When I requested a refund for the month of April, because I was not able to use their product due to issues, I was told that their policy would not allow me to be refunded. Very unhappy and disappointed.

I'm disappointed that we couldn't meet your needs. I recognize and can understand why you'd feel frustrated after this experience.

However, I have to admit that things look a little different from my perspective. My support team did their best to assist you, and after reviewing the entire case in detail, I believe they did their job well. As for the refund request, I was the person who denied that request, and upon reflection, I got that wrong. I will follow up with you by email to discuss further.

I'm aware you chose another solution for your business. I wish we could've figured out a way to keep you on board as a customer, but I do hope the other solution works out well for you and Swon & Company manages to thrive.
