Track what each receipt actually cost. Margins use the sale-date basis, not today's cost field.

Shopify stores one current cost per variant, so a supplier price change can hide what earlier stock cost. CostLedger keeps a dated receipt ledger and shows the moving-average math at each step. Record receipts by hand, CSV, or from completed Shopify Purchase Order PDFs. Review each line and excluded cost before it is recorded. CostLedger never writes to Shopify. Use sale-date margin reports, monthly COGS, inventory valuation, alerts, exports, and guarded PO receipt reversals.
