This app recently deleted multiple collections in our online store, damaging our online sales. We didn't even know that they had access to do this, which tbh looking at the permissions they did not. Its like they hacked our store in some way and then started deleting our collections which were actually product pages. Had Shopify not contacted us to tell us there had been an issue with this app we may not have noticed. Shopify said in their comms that Orderly would be in touch, they haven't. DO NOT install this app, if we didn't have a savvy Ops Mgr on board we may have taken longer to notice this issue and suffered further losses. Many businesses have been impacted.
Orderly email stuffed our website yesterday by deleting collections. One wonders why it has write access to a website without permissions - apologies are great and to fix it, I have to contact some other app provider. What happened if backups were not available - who is responsible ?
I can confirm the deleted Collection pages and broken menus as reported by others. However, the most concerning aspect is how they handled this critical situation for many store owners. I was never contacted directly to inform me of the 40 deleted Collection pages and received no personal assistance. It’s clear they don’t care. They should be sued for their behaviour!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This app which we weren't even using anymore has wiped out every single one of our smart collections, the SEO damage from this could be shocking, they should be removed from the app store for such a breach
These reckless developers obliterated years of work, deleted massive amounts of our data and were like "Welp! Good luck! Maybe you can use the wayback machine!"
Shopify needs to hold them accountable, blacklist them from the platform, and insist on financial compensation for all of the users that they victimized.
«OrderlyEmails are writing to inform you of an incident that occurred on March 29, 2026 involving our Orderly Emails app which affected a subset of users. A bug in an Orderly Emails update caused some Shopify stores Collections to be incorrectly deleted. The update was intended to clean up duplicate collections created by our app, but due to the bug it affected other collections as well».
--------
The app PERMANENTLY deleted a huge amount of our collection without the possibility to recover any of these. We had to invest many hours of work, and also hire an developer to fix this issue.
We asked for a compensation for the hours and cost related to this incident and got this:
«We understand the seriousness of this incident and the impact it has had on your business. We are deeply sorry for the disruption and loss it has caused. We have already implemented safeguards to ensure this cannot happen again. However, right now we are unable to discuss any kind of compensation.»
I understand it might be a huge cost as it affects many of their customers, but giving those whom were affected a discount for X time to cover their cost is the least they could do.
This app DELETED MOST OF MY PRODUCTS AND COLLECTIONS on my website. I'm missing out on thousands of dollars in orders. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
This app caused a serious issue for our store by deleting multiple collections and menu items which hurt our sales. We had no indication from its listed permissions that it should have been able to do this.
Shopify said Orderly would follow up, but their response was very weak and did not properly address the issue. I would strongly recommend not installing this app, especially given that other businesses appear to have been affected as well.
Absolute Disaster - They Deleted Our Store Data and Can't Fix It. I cannot recommend this app with even a single star. We are currently in the middle of a catastrophic incident caused by Orderly Emails, and their response has been nothing short of negligent.
Their latest update admitted that a "bug" in their app blindly deleted active Collections from our Shopify store. Even worse, they explicitly stated: "we unfortunately have no way of recreating them ourselves."
Think about what this means:
Data Loss: They deleted live business assets (collections) without any confirmation step or safety net.
No Recovery: They admit the data is gone forever because it wasn't "stored in their systems," despite the fact that their app triggered the deletion. This is a massive liability issue.
Terrible Safety Standards: How does an update intended to "cleanup duplicates" result in mass deletion? There were clearly zero safeguards in place.
Telling us to "check the Activity Log" is insulting when the log only confirms that they wiped our data and left us with nothing. This isn't just a bug; it's a fundamental failure of engineering and trust. We have lost weeks of work organizing products, and the vendor has no plan to make us whole.
Do not install this app unless you want to risk losing your store's structure with zero chance of recovery. Save yourself the headache and find a competitor who actually cares about data integrity.
This app caused widespread and significant damage to many Shopify stores by deleting collections without warning. For those affected, this is not a minor inconvenience - it has fundamentally disrupted site structure, navigation, and product visibility.
In our case, the impact has been severe enough that the website now requires taking offline while we rebuild collections, reconfigure navigation, and restore the overall layout. This is both time-consuming, and costly.
The issue has been described as a “bug,” but the scale of the damage goes far beyond what most store owners would consider an acceptable technical fault. Collections are a core part of any Shopify store, and their removal has knock-on effects across the entire customer experience - including visibility on search engines like Google.
An apology email is not sufficient in situations like this. The response does not reflect the seriousness of the disruption caused, nor the level of responsibility owed to businesses relying on this app.
Store owners place trust in apps to support their operations - not to compromise them. Unfortunately, this experience has significantly undermined that trust.
It's quite unbelievable that Shopify hasn't yet severed their partnership with the developer - both their apps are still available in the app store. Where is the accountability? Shopify are still billing as usual and ignoring store owners. If people needed yet another excuse to find an alternative to Shopify, then this is the very thing!!!
