*Updated* After a week of screwing with it I gave up
NOT FOR BEGINNERS. Requires an understanding of metafields on Shopify and potentially some HTML and CSS and Google, frankly, isn't worth it. Most of the issues I had were with Google, not this app specifically, but there were still some frustrating bugs. 1. You need an understanding of meta fields, what they are and how to edit them, which is somewhat hidden in Shopify and even then they seem to be buggy (the dropdown menus don't populate) . Google also makes it extra difficult by requiring A TON OF THEM and putting the only comprehensive list of product categories in a csv that you have to download, and making some of the values for the metafields dropdown lists that don't populate. It would've made a lot more sense if I had read this post first: https://community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Apps/Populating-Fields-for-the-Google-Shopping-App/td-p/338281 2. Google is not very clear about where they want contact information visible on the site and their support staff and docs are inconsistent about what is acceptable. Going back and forth with them half a dozen times I got half a dozen different answers. Ultimately, I had to learn how customize the contact.liquid template to add the contact info google wanted in HTML without having it above the contact form I would prefer people use. 3. Google is both incredibly slow and opaque when it comes to approving products and not suspending the merchant account. From the merchant account. I finally gave up when they told me I needed to verify my phone number and the instructions they sent me to do that took me to a page showing that my phone number has been verified for almost a month. Having done content creation for another store for a few years, I never once saw google shopping make a single sale, while Ebay and Etsy sold $20-$40k/month. If it were a quick and easy setup process, maybe it would be worth it. In my case I have a lot of unique and one-off items so it's absolutely not worth the time.
Hi there!
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback! The Google Channel is a great way to sync your products to run a Smart Shopping campaign and list products in Google's Free Listings program. Within the channel, there is also a "Help Center" tab which goes over FAQ's and a step by step walkthrough. I'm sorry to hear you've been having trouble getting your approvals sorted out.
I'll be following up with you via email to offer assistance to help you get the most out of the Google Channel! Chat soon!

THIS IS NOT A HIGHLY RECOMMEND APP ONE MINUTE ALL MY PRODUCTS WERE APPROVED AND BECAUSE OF ONE OR TWO PRODUCTS GOOGLE SUSPEND THE ENITRE ACCOUNT IF YOUR A DROPSHIPPER AND DONT KNOW HOW TO GET GTIN THIS APP IS NOT RECOMMED UNLESS YOU WANNA ALWAYS BE SUSPENDED. NO SUPPORT ALL THEY DO IS EMAIL NO LIVE PERSON TO GUIDE NOR VIDEO WITH INSTRUCTION WITH CONS AND PROS FOR DIFFERENT SHOPIFY SELLERS. THIS APP THE WORST THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE LUCK TO SEE GOOGLE CHANNEL MADE CHANGES. IF CHANGES MADE IT WAS NEVER FOR BETTER ALWAYS WORST
Hi Gudtingzzhair,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the app. I see that you've had some trouble with an account suspension and you mention the GTINs for dropshipping products. I'd be happy to help point you in the right direction to resolve these issues and refer you over to our friends at Google if it is outside of our scope. Please check for my upcoming email where we can discuss account specific information.

The app is constantly telling me that my products are fraud and not valid. I have tried for the last few weeks to get this straightened around but nothing works. This app needs worked on a lot. How can my products not be valid when i have "IN STOCK" "ON HAND" inventory. when i spoke with someone at google they kept telling me to do something i didnt know how to. i dont think it should be this complicated to get my products added to google for ads. im not a multimillion dollar company that has the money to pay a ton of people with master degrees to get my SMALL business up and running. why does this company have to be so difficult to work with? i just want spend money with them to advertise my REAL ON HAND IN STOCK ON LOCATION products with.

Like many other reviewers, we installed this advert in the hopes of transferring our products to the Google Merchant center easily. Unfortunately, it pushed a product to the service which was incorrectly formatted, and seeing as it had 100 variants, and therefore looked like 100 different products, Google suspended our merchant account for spam. What's more frustrating is that after contacting Google explaining the issue, I pretty much got the response "too bad, so sad", which seems to be par for the course for Google when interacting with small businesses or unknown creators. Really saddening to be barred forever from a huge service like this over a mistake caused by their own app :(
Hey there,
Thank you for providing us this feedback regarding our app. I understand that being disapproved by Google can be a frustrating experience - there could be a few different reasons for Google's response to your product feed, so I'd be happy to investigate further with you. I will email you shortly to gather some more context about the issues and I look forward to getting this figured out at the earliest. Chat soon!

Very Disappointed! While I am a seasoned web store owner, I'm new to the shopify platform. This Google Shopping app is so bad, it has me second guessing if I should spend time building a store using Shopify at all. I'm finding it hard to believe that the failures of this app is a mistake. Hopefully I'm wrong but it seems like a well thought out money grab to me, especially when I hear long time users writing about how great the previous app was compared to this one.
