Still getting used to Elevar. BUT, Amanda from Customer Success was incredible. She was quick and responsive and even followed up when I dropped the ball during install. People like Amanda make for a great experience and speak to the reliability of the brand. Otherwise, I've heard great things about Elevar from other store owners. Would definitely reccomend.

Have been testing it and can't recommend for now. Conversion tracking for Google Ads with server side performs a little worse than the standard google tracking.
Support is good and responsive (thanks to Jonah, who helped me out a lot with my questions). The Setup is pretty complex and will tke some time!
Will keep it running for a few more weeks and will update accordingly!

UPDATE: After keeping the server side tracking running for 8 weeks, the server side tracking is far behind the normal conversion tracking! So defintely not the promised result and for the amount of work to set up and the price for 100 conversion (150 dollar/month) I cannot recommend and will switch back to normal conversion tracking which is free and performs way better. REALLY DISAPPOINTED!
Hi There -- this is Brad, the Elevar Founder. I appreciate you taking to try Elevar and provide your feedback. Google Ads server-side tracking works a bit different than other channels like GA4, Facebook, TikTok, etc. We are only able to send conversions to Google Ads when we have a GCLID, WBRAID, GBRAID click ids from the original session. Google's API rejects when we don't have any of these.
This isn't an issue with your store or setup, but we do see (and share) that it seems to be 50/50 when Google Ads server-side outperforms their client side tracking (which can be configured either via the Google App, GTM, or linked GA4 events). Server-side typically outperforms when post-purchase upsells or other checkout customizations are in place that are known to limit Google Ads scripts from firing in checkout.
There is also conversion modeling that Google now uses to backfill/estimate conversions when Consent Mode is enabled for client-side events.
Other channels like Meta do not have the limitations I've described above so you'll see 100% of conversions in your Events Manager.

Ultimately I think if you are going to do it then go all the way and get Server-side tagging. It also appears that Shopify Plus would provide maximum value. I'm currently on client side tagging and non-Plus Shopify. The app did save me tons of hours of testing and coding to pull in data. The customer support rep Mario has been very helpful in fixing any implementation issues I had. I think there could be a better onboarding process for non-Plus non-server side implementation.

Hi Chris - I sincerely apologize for the issue you are experiencing - I understand how frustrating inaccurate data tracking can be. I took a look at your support ticket and noticed that we responded in ~ 8 hours to your initial questions regarding product ID mismatch which you mentioned was resolved. Then yesterday you noted that the dataLayer was empty and the code was uninstalling itself every 15 minutes - lets try to fix this! Typically the only way this is going to happen is if there is an automated deployment in place that is overwriting our dataLayer snippets. The way our app works on install is creating 3 snippets and then calling those in your theme.liquid and checkout.liquid { include elevar-head }. From there everything is self-hosted in your theme and our app does not do anything else.
I'm happy to assist in looking at this issue further with you to ensure your remarketing data is being sent to AdWords properly.

To be fair, I am not a developer, nor an engineer. The reviews of the app are good, and the need for good tracking is real.
So far I am only trying to perform the set-up of the app, and it is complex and time-consuming. I fear that the probability of breaking the current tracking is higher (e.g. it is recommended to remove current tracking code to avoid double tracking), than implementing the app adequately without the need to pay the 1000$ implementation fee.
The app provides tutorial videos, which help but are not sufficient.

Customer service was prompt in responding, but the set up, difficulty, lack of assistance, unappealing dashboard and somewhat misleading app sales page makes this all a waste of time. Might want to bring the technical side of it down a notch and actually offer something above and beyond what is free with GA4. Not worth it.
It dont sent the checkout.liquid data layer thats the only reason that I tried it

This is a pretty good app and I am trying this with Triple whale as well and very happy with how it's performing for my ads attribution.
Elevar is better than it's ever been. We've used them since 2020, and they are constantly getting better. The data layer they work with provides the best data that you get out of your store.

You are correct that when your DNS is hosted by Shopify (vs GoDaddy, etc) that Shopify does not allow you to add A or AAAA records that Google Cloud requires when provisioning your own Google Tag Manager server container. Unfortunately we can't "fix" this within Shopify DNS.
Our Elevar Server (Fully Managed) solution is indeed the plan that supports all server-side destinations without the need to configure Google Cloud <> Shopify DNS.
I wish we could get around this issue to support your use case and trust that we work hard to find alternatives with low costs.

I downloaded the App 2 years ago and recently got into understanding GTM, GA4, and other tracking tools. They have been great in helping me review the setup and showing me some tricks. Special thanks to Mario Mendoza from the support team.
SOOOO worth the cost and I feel safe having this app because of the blunder we somehow got into without it. Brad and Mario both stepped in to help and I am SO grateful. Also for reference, I am a google tag manager idiot but they fixed it and helped a lot. It's the ideal/best way to track so happy to have it and to stay with them. Thanks guys!

This is an updated review. I had some trouble setting up this app and was really frustrated with all the errors received on my Google Ads account. Have been going back and forth with email support and then finally Brad came to the rescue, fixed all the issues, and answered all my questions. 1) product ID mismatch (which we found due to lower/upper case difference with merchant center)
2) Comparing conversion value/attribution models between Google Ads and other platforms (like GA)
3) Why we don't set product price as the conversion value for add to carts by default

I use this extension for many of our Shopify and it works perfectly!
The only time I had a problem was during the rollout of a new feature; which was quickly sorted out in less than 1 hour writing the support team!
More companies should follow their example!
So far the app is working perfectly. I´ve worked with them before and I´m really happy with how it works and particularly with the customer service.
They reply very quickly and provide always a solution.

If you're not an expert in Google Tag Manager/Google Ads installation, do not install this app yourself. Ask the people from Elevar to help you / assist you - they will do it without charging you and they will do a much better job than you.
At least this happened in my situation - needed for a Romanian store, with local language and currency. Tried to install it by myself - total disaster. Even asked for a refund and left a bad review - yeah, I know, life sucks sometimes but people from Elevar, especially Mario (thanks a lot!) helped me and after I granted them access to my Google Ads and Tag Manager (and the shop as well) they did it in no time and it seems they did a good job.
Previously, my GTM was firing for purchase around 1k - 10k/day (there's no way I had so many orders daily - I mean, I wish but that's never going to happen in my industry) and now the GTM and Google Ads especially, are showing a correct number for dozens of orders daily. It will take a couple of days for Google to learn (again) the campaign settings and to adapt as needed but at least I know everything it's in place.
So, tl;dr - if you're not an expert, don't try it yourself, buy it and ask nicely the people from Elevar to help you. And let me assure you, they will do it. And they will do it much better than you, they will ask for permission for everything and they deserve 5 stars.

Hey, sometimes it just feels magic. I decided to go for the Google Tag Manager Suit and I have limited skills about the installation. Mario and his team walked by my side the whole way to publish. When you are a bit of a newbie in something it feels really great and safe to have this amazing support. No question is too stupid! Thanks for the amazing support and a great app.
Had a few issues setting it up - mainly their snippets not working within my theme. However, their support (Mario) was really quick to jump on it and sort it out. Was very impressed by it. Anyone looking for a better way to manage GTM in Shopify should definitely take a look at Elevar.

Very robust tracking solution! All the custom events and datalayer data needed for an ecoomerce can be found here! It's super duper convenient and scalable to track GA, Facebook, Google, Criteo, Emarsys and other marketing channels using Elevar solution. All you need is to write some scripts for some hack here and there to leverage on. Thanks to Brad, He has been a great help.

Having worked previously with GTM, it's been a rough ride implementing and configuring on websites, but with this plugin combined with the support provided by the Elevar team - This was a joy ride!

While I don't like making public excuses - this is why we did not respond in typical fashion within 24 hours. I honestly did not see it.
The product ID undefined question is one that varies store to store (and many times is a false positive reporting in AdWords) but will happily assist on a screenshare to troubleshoot. My direct email is brad@getelevar.com.

Before purchasing, I was a little sceptical about investing in the app because of the price but because I rotate through products frequently in my store and to easily access and edit Shopify's backend you need an enterprise subscription, I decided this would be a good long term investment and security against errors on my behalf if it worked properly.
After purchasing I ran into a problem where I installed the code incorrectly and therefore emailed Brad & Ann and they were very quick to get back to me. They sent me an article containing common solutions to my problem and after trying them, they didn't work. Brad then took the time and effort to request access to my store and actually went into my backend and fixed the problem himself.
The app imports everything you could possibly need to solve data layer, enhanced eccomerce, Facebook retargeting, and Google retargeting problems into your Google tag manager account and has custom firing optimization to ensure you are getting the most data out of your traffic.
I am thoroughly impressed with the app and even more so with the customer service. I highly recommend this app to anyone looking to stick with their Shopify store long term or anyone who is prone to making mistakes while coding on their backend. This app saved me countless hours of work. The time I saved was worth more than the $99 alone and because its a one time fee, the app will continue to provide value far into the future.
I would honestly give them a 10/5 if I could.

You rarely encounter a company that helps before going in to commercial details. Brad and his people have a company that does! I had a huge problem for over a year getting my conversions to show in UA as session data got lost between Facebook browser and a psp opening a banking app on mobile devices where Shopify and my PSP could NOT help me. Brad fixed it for us!! Before even asking me if I wanted to be a paying customer. The result: I have send him an e-mail if I could please become one of his customers! I want these guy's on my side to further scale my business!
This App saved me a lot of work and time. It would take me much longer to implement everything by myself. Brad is super responsive and helped me to setup and test everything properly. I highly recommend this App.
