Klaviyo is hands down one of the most powerful email and SMS platforms available for Shopify. The segmentation, automation, and data depth are best-in-class. When it’s set up properly, it can absolutely drive meaningful revenue.

That said, it really shines only if you have someone actively managing it. To get full value, you need consistent flow optimization, campaign strategy, list hygiene, testing, and performance monitoring. It’s not a “set it and forget it” tool, it rewards attention and strategy.

I’d also love to see more flexibility in the pricing structure. When performance fluctuates month-to-month, the fixed pricing model can feel slightly disconnected from results. A structure that better reflects engagement or revenue impact would make it even stronger.

Overall, it’s still the best tool in the space hands down, just make sure you’re ready to invest the time (or team) to unlock its full potential.

Well, it took me a lot of convincing to add Kalyvio to my Shopify, and boy am I glad I did. I am just a small family business, and it has helped me immensely with growth, and that is only using it for two weeks so far. Nice and simple interface to use.

I used Klaviyo for years between 2018-2020 and I was happy with it despite the high costs.

More recently they introduced caps on how much you can email before going to the next tier, and their caps are extremely restrictive compared to other ESPs. In order to send 5 emails a week to my entire list costs me double what I'd pay in my tier normally.

So for 2000 contacts I'm paying $100/month to send what I want to send. I'm not against a (good) company making money, but their cost is roughly $1 for 10000 sends and they charge you 20x markup just on the sends.

This is absolutely ridiculous and their prices don't justify this when you have better and cheaper options available. I'd stay far away from them.

Edit: Lol at their generic ChatGPT response - they are clowns.

Absolute scammers! BE CAREFUL with this guys! I setup in my Klaviyo settings not to be charged if i exceed my limit of $45 plan.

I was assured by their support that i will not and then after just 30 days they were about to charge me more than $600

Thankfully i found out before the charge and canceled the service! Do not trust their settings. They purposly play with words to trick you thinking the "stop" in their settings is for the "profile and email" plan, but its only for the emails and if you exceed that limit you will be charged, in my case a LOT!

Scammers, do not trust their support too!

btw, they also show you misleading conversions - claiming the conversion is made from Klaviyo when it's clearly from other source and Klaviyo email was not even opened by the customer!

Thank you for the feedback. Klaviyo's profile and email plan charges for both active profiles and emails because Klaviyo exists to help you understand your customers and drive growth through those relationships. If you have profiles that you don't send emails to, we strongly recommend suppressing them. You don't pay for suppressed profiles, but you retain their data so you can understand the actions they took.

Found this to be far better than Mailchimp and they seem to be always improving the features and have so many options to customize your email design. I love how easy it is to set-up A/B tests, the integrations, the analytics, and the new AI tools as well, not to mention incredible customer service if you ever have an issue (or in my case, accidentally permanently delete something).

Klaviyo is hands-down one of the most powerful email and SMS platforms out there for ecommerce. The depth of their analytics is where they really shine. From revenue attribution to flow-level performance and segmentation insights, Klaviyo gives you the kind of data that actually helps you make smarter decisions and squeeze more sales out of every campaign.

The segmentation and automation capabilities are excellent, and once you know your way around the platform, it becomes a serious growth engine. If you care about understanding customer behavior and optimizing lifecycle marketing, Klaviyo is hard to beat.

That said, pricing is the biggest downside. Being charged for all profiles in your account—even ones you never email—can feel frustrating, especially for growing brands with large lists. It would be much more fair (and sustainable) if pricing were based only on the profiles you actively send emails to.

Overall, Klaviyo is an elite tool with best-in-class data and performance. If they adjusted their pricing model to better reflect actual usage, it would be close to perfect.

We appreciate the feedback regarding pricing. Klaviyo bills based on active profiles, and we encourage you to suppress profiles that you don't plan on sending emails to. You keep suppressed profiles' data, but since they're unable to receive emails, you do not need to pay for them, and they do not count towards your active profile limit. We encourage you to reach out to our support team, and we can help you suppress profiles, which will in turn help save on your plan!

Set up was a little trickier than I had hoped, but the customer support was fantastic and very thorough and I got it fixed quickly. I have already made money after setting up some flows. I am very happy with Klaviyo and would highly recommend them! Five stars!
