since I used this app I have never had so many abuse reports and unsubscrivers, as well as many fake emails that did not appear on my list before ... at this point it is better to abandon mailchimp to find something more integrated.
very sad

Finally got Shopsync setup, had to keep going back to video tutorial and written instructions as it wasn't as clear on one of the steps if you're not experienced IT. Help desk was only available to paid subscription users and not us potential paying subscribers. Fingers-crossed that it works.
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and wanted to clarify a few things. 1) What video tutorial are you referring to? 2) ShopSync is a free app, and we're happy to answer any questions you may have.
If you have a moment, please send your replies to support@shopsync.io.
Big problem, it downloaded ALL my customers into my subscriber list inc those who hadn’t subscribed.
Hi Cedarwood Soap, we saw your review and wanted to reply right away. When you use our app it will sync information in your Shopify store to your Mailchimp account. This information only includes past customers who "Accept email marketing", orders, and products. Syncing also includes any merge tag mappings that have been set up. Users that haven't opted in will not be sent to Mailchimp.
After the initial sync is complete, we'll continue adding customers, orders, and products from your store to Mailchimp as transactions occur. We'll also add those who are transactional in nature so you can trigger abandoned carts and order notifications. Lastly, if someone unsubscribes from a Mailchimp campaign or automation, we'll sync that status back to Shopify and vice versa.
From what you're describing, it definitely doesn't sound like a standard function of the app and we'd like to investigate further. Would you care to reach out to our support team directly? We'd like to see some examples where you're experiencing issues, comparing it to what is in the Shopify API. You can reach out to us at support@shopsync.io.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Worked First Time. Great app and very easy to use. Able to sync all orders and contacts with ability to pull in tags as well.
Great import and connection with Mailchimp. But, I lost all my tracking in GA and on FB :/ So uninstalled again... and tracking worked.
Too bad, what I experienced with Shopsync seemed awesome until I discovered the tracking issue.
Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to reach out right away.
Can you help us understand what you're referring to regarding tracking? We don't see any support tickets open and this isn't something we're familiar with in regard to the core functionality of our app; we would definitely like to learn more about the problem you're experiencing.
You can reach out to us anytime by contacting us at support@shopsync.io.
The install was easy enough. However, I had over 200 new emails show up in my list which in incredibly disconcerting from data management and privacy perspective. Who are these people? Did they opt-in? Why weren't they on my list before? Now I have to cull through the data to figure out the details, which is time consuming and not the best use of my time. Glad for the third-party connection, but only time will tell if all the syncing happens seamlessly or not.
Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to get in touch. Up until late yesterday (4/3/19), our app was engineered to include past customers who "Accept email marketing", orders, and products in Shopify. If they showed unsubscribed in Shopify, we ignored the email. In other words, we looked at Shopify as the "truth" and nothing else.
Although our intentions for this were done for all the right reasons, it, unfortunately, didn't work for everyone as you saw with your subscriber counts going up. With how we used to perform the initial sync, it would have been possible to re-subscribe users if they had opted out from a Mailchimp list previously. Or, it's also possible the old integration missed real subscribers.
Now, we've changed up how we handle the data from Shopify to Mailchimp on the initial sync. Here's more information on how it works:
Before any data is processed by ShopSync, we perform integrity checks with Mailchimp to ensure these customers can be sent to the list that is connected.
For example, if someone opted out of a list in the past, we won't add the email again. We'll also update Shopify with the correct status that Mailchimp shows. That way, the most current subscriber status in Mailchimp is synced with the store.
After the initial sync is complete, we'll continue adding customers, orders, and products from your store to Mailchimp as transactions occur. We'll add customers that visit your store who are deemed transactional as well. That way, you can use Mailchimp's automations to trigger abandoned carts and order notifications. If someone unsubscribes from a Mailchimp campaign or automation in the future, we'll sync the opt-out status back to Shopify and vice versa.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, let us know if you have any follow up questions. We can be reached anytime at support@shopsync.io.
Doesn't seem to work. I keep getting this error message after instal and so I can't get it to work at all. And I can't seem to find any info on how to fix it.
Temporary Installation Cookie Must Be Set
Your browser is preventing the installation of ShopSync. A temporary cookie must be set by clicking here.
After clicking the button, you will be able to install ShopSync by refreshing the page, or from the App store.
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like your issue may be related to a browser caching issue or just a temporary problem with Shopify's app store. We'd suggest clearing your cookies/cache or trying another browser entirely. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to contact us for further troubleshooting at support@shopsync.io.
We decided to use this ¨workarounds¨ as a solution for the shopify disaster. Now past customers who did not opt in are getting our auto welcome message and unsubscribing saying did not sign up. Great for our brand, nice work! Be aware everyone and good luck with email marketing.

If you're concerned that the store subscribers won't match up with Mailchimp, we recommend comparing customers from your store with Mailchimp unsubscribe data. You could then manually unsubscribe customers in Shopify. Another option would be to send out a light email after the sync - maybe something to the effect of "We're updating our customer preferences, click here to opt-out".
We're very sorry for any inconvenience.
So far so bad. Installed it, got halfway through configuring (which itself was no fun, given the contradictory instructions out there)... and got a 502 Bad Gateway error. Uninstalled and tried again, but can't now even get as far as installing it. Long pause... 502 Bad Gateway.
No way of knowing whether this is a bug in ShopSync, or a problem at Shopify, or the former triggering the latter, but meantime no way of replacing the old MailChimp for Shopify app. Frustrated.
Hi there! Thanks for contacting us and our apologies for any hassle with loading the app. We experienced technical difficulties with ShopSync loading up correctly in Shopify due to heavy volumes with installations (this is the last day to switch per Mailchimp and Shopify).
Our engineers reacted quickly, and the issues seem to be resolved. During this time, data was being processed as normal in the background. The problem was isolated to the app settings loading up in the browser.
We apologize for any inconvenience, let us know if you have any other questions.
I used this app to help me sync MailChimp with Shopify. Seemingly that is fine (although I received an email stating otherwise). I upgraded to ProPlan so I could contact Customer Support. Response? You need to upgrade to ProPlan. I'm hoping my experience improves.
Hi there, thank you for the note. We'll be glad to help with any issue or problem that comes up with the app. Please reach out to us at support@shopsync.io.
