Poor quality app. VERY glitchy. Support is not available during business hours in AU. We lost so many sales from the app not working and using our native shopping cart. Worked maybe 1 in 4 times. Because support is so slow to reply I have to abandon this app and wear all the lost sales

I subscribed, paid, and gained no benefit from my subscription to this app it was a total loss.
The customer service is extremely poor. They keep you waiting for hours and ask you to add them as a collaborator account. Then, they request permissions to access orders and steal customer information, including their email addresses and phone numbers, during the time you’re waiting for them to fix the issue.
They failed to resolve the problem, which was that the gift discount couldn't be applied correctly. The app also caused issues on the site, including confusing redirects that disrupted visitors and constant refreshes when adding products to the cart, significantly slowing down the website's performance.
1. The merchant uninstalled the app during their free trial and did not pay for the app (the usual 7 day free trial was extended by 7 more days upon request)
2. We requested for collaborator access to their store for 2 reasons:
a. Some of their orders did not recieve the free gift with purchase as intended and our team was asked to investigate the matter. No data was stored or stolen as the merchant claims. We follow extremely strict data privacy practices and are GDPR as well as Shopify compliant. We can share the app's privacy policy upon request.
b. The store's theme was interfering with the app applying discounts and we requested to take a look at their theme code to identify the root cause but the app was uninstalled before we could find a resolution.
I urge the reader of this review to go through any of the other 500+ reviews as evidence that these claims are false and inaccurate.
Worst app on this planet. Nothing works, its a complete disaster. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM MONK!!!
We apologise for the experience you had with the app. It looks like some custom code in your theme was interfering with Monk due to which the offer wasn't functioning as intended. Please see the email we've sent you that contains details of this specific custom code and a resolution to the interference problem.
I would avoid. A CRO company told us about this app. We downloaded it for the trial but it lacked basic functions that Rebuy or Upcart have. Then the company asked to use our logo on their website to highlight large merchants using their software. We told them we're not even using it. Turns out we were being billed and we never used the product. But they wouldn't refund us the funds.
Read the other responses on how the reply to criticism and you can see they lack customer service. I would opt for Upcart if you're needing a cheap solution or Rebuy for more advanced.
Also, cart apps crush your page speed so I would just stay away entirely and have a developer custom code something which is what we've done.
Update(Sept 2024): The app charges a flat monthly fee based on the total orders processed by the online store. This is specified when a trial is started as well as in our detailed pricing doc. We do process a full refund in cases where the issue is legitimate and have done so for several merchants. This store used 3 features of the app well beyond the trial period before raising a refund request and hence theirs was rejected. We have 400+ reviews praising our customer service, I apologize that Monk wasn't the right fit for the store.
Why can't they make a normal gift app. Please note that promo codes for discounts will no longer work in your store... You can add only one gift.
Update(Sept 2024): 1. Monk is built as a unified upsell + gift app to ensure merchants do not have to use several similar apps (too many apps can bloat subscription fees as well as slow down a website)
2. To combine Monk's discounts with a Shopify discount, stores have to enable the 'product discount' combinations option in their Shopify 'Discounts' setting.
3. The app has a default set-up of 1 gift per customer but merchants have the ability to remove this restriction and offer multiple quantities of multiple products as gifts simultanouesly
Was looking for an Upsell for the holiday sales, but the customer support never reply my question after waiting for a week still nothing.
We did reply to them via email a couple of times but seems like the email address they provided was a non responsive one.
This app uses a workaround creating "Draft Orders" and so when we went live it created errors in our reporting and workflow for "Online Orders." Also, it was not working consistently and only half of our customers had the promotion added to their cart.
Update (June '23): The app now uses Shopify Functions instead of Draft Orders.
We use Shopify's Draft Order mechanism because it provides incredible flexibility in the way offers can be set-up using Monk. A merchant can create multiple separate promotions like a gift with purchase, a few bundles as well as upsells/cross sell and all of them will work independently and seamlessly.
In this specific case - the promotion was applied as per the rules configured within the app and the other half of customers that did not avail the promotion because they did not meet the eligibility criteria setup by the merchant.
