The onboarding was terrible. I was shown an onboarding flow that made my screen unclickable, and then I was pushed out of the app.
If it's free, you're the product.
I was looking at optimizing our site a bit, and noticed an enormous amount of tracking pixels being loaded. Turns out all of the 40+ pixels were being loaded by Privy. None of that information is shared with me, so I can only assume Privy is using your customers' browsing behaviors to their own ends while slowing down your page.
Don't be lazy like me. Spend the small amount of time it takes to make your own email popup or at least pay someone else to do it.
Privy are you joking i just worked on my newletter the feature that i paid for for over two hours and that ting just quit, the slowest shit ever regret spending money on it

doesn't let you edit anything until you're forcibly upgraded. i can't cancel unless i upgrade or contact support which causes more of a delay.

Did not sync with shopify email subscribers properly. Also had bad experience with their customer service "specialist" Nicole Bulman
11/11/19 Updated: Cancelled today...they still have not fixed the de-duplication issue. Began using Klaviyo...way more full featured and cheaper too! Bye, Privy!

10/10/19 Reply to Developer Comment: I would have left this alone but it is not cool to publicly tell a complete lie and say you don't have to MANUALLY de-duplicate your list...you absolutely do. As of today (Oct. 10 2019) this is what your Support team (Andy) had to say about the fact that your system doesn't automatically deduplicate emails that have different casing (name@email.com vs. NAME@email.com)...
"I checked internally and we are actively working on this now. The only update I can provide is: We're in a difficult situation where we need to determine how to make this change for all existing contacts across all business accounts. if there are duplicates how to fix them.
- What if one of them is unsubscribed and the other is mailable?
- How will this handle GDPR compliance in the context of duplicate customers for different businesses, or archived businesses?
- Do we default to unsubscribing these?
There's a lot of complications that play into this issue, im happy to provide you with an update when this have some movement on it"
But don't take my word for it...before you use this product test if it allows emails with different casing to be created. You will see that Privy is not ready for prime time when it comes to email marketing.

Original Review: It's really too bad that I can't give the a higher rating as I'd love to. I really like the app and the customer service and easy integration. BUT...they have one giant Achilles Heel. Their system allows for the same email address with different title cases to create duplicate records (e.g., person@email.com and Person@Email.com will create SEPARATE contacts) so you end up sending multiples to people all the time. You have to deduplicate your lists MANUALLY! The worst part is that they have known about this issue for months and have still not fixed it. De-duplication is the most fundamental feature of any email marketing program...it's staggering to me that they have let this go on for so long with no fix and have not even communicated the issue to their customers. Ask them about it before you sign up!

Good tool but bad customer service. I accidentally export my mailchimp list into privy and am unable to delete it. The rep says that he cannot remove it and the only way to do it is doing it one by one. The list is over 500,000 users. It would take months to do this one by one. All the while, privy has this data of my customers and not sure what will happen to it. They could potential sell it or share it or create a custom audience and market to it. Huge risk for our business.
Used the free branded version for a year. Then suddenly they ended the free version without notifying me. As a small business owner I have a lot on my plate every day and checking whether or not my pop-up is working as it was set up should not be one of them. Do not recommend. If you want my money, you have to act like you deserve it, Privy.
The app is very basic and is missing very basic audience segment options that all other apps like Mailchimp or Klavio have. It is very disappointing. The email flows are also very basic and not on the level of Klavio and Mailchimp. They will also not allow you to clean up your email list. If you delete some of your email, they will cancel your subscription. I had a lot of new emails from a giveaway, I sent an email to the giveaway email list and they didn't perform well so I deleted that list as it was hurting my opening rate and I didn't want to email that list any more. Privy accused me of deleting the emails to reduce my monthly price. I explained to them the situation and they still said that if I delete another email they will cancel my subscription which is ridiculous because I decide who I want on my email list and it is my right to clean up my email list for better performance especially when their app is missing a lot of crucial audience segmentation options
